Thread: Bourne Supremecy

Fast paced, exciting thriller.

In my opinion, the movie is not as good as the original. Bit still one of the best movies that I have seen this year.

Ending sets up a "how did he become Bourne" prequel.

Well, seeing as how there are 3 books in the trilogy...

I don't remember much about the third one or how it ends though. I think I read it when I was like 12 years old...

The first movie was WAY off the book. From what I've read of reviews, so is the second. Bummer, 'cause the books are unreal.

The books are dated, but the writers have done a good job in keeping with the spirit of the novels.

The Bourne Supremecy movie uses the "stolen identity" plot, but that is all that is used from the novel.

The movie gets moving about 5 minutes in and doesn't slow down until Bourne has kicked ass from Tangiers to Moscow. Not a whole lot of special effects, and no computer animation which is a nice change of pace.

Sounds good to me. I didn't think the second two books were as good as the first one anyway.

We tried to go see it on Saturday, but it was sold out and the lines of people waiting to get in were unreal. Saw I, Robot instead, which was better than I expected.

The second movie can't be much like the book considering the first movie killed off one of the main characters from all three books. Also there was no mention of Carlos the Jackal which is the main reason Jason Bourne was a spy in the first place.

Considering how different the first movie was from the book I was disappointed. Had I not read the books I would have probably really liked the movie and would go see the second one. I will probably wait for it to come out on DVD.

The last book end up in a KGB training camp where Bourne and The Jackal face off. I think all three books were great, which is why I was so disappointed when they so drastically changed the plot in the movies.

The script writer didnt even read the first book when he wrote the movie, hence why that guy was killed off. For the second one he actually read the book, but said it was only used as a framework.

Havent seen it yet, but cant wait.

I just saw it last night. I liked it a lot, but the thing I didn't like about it was that in this one they seem to shake the camera way too much during the fight scenes, which is alot.

i read the 3 books. the 3rd one is not a prequel. read them they are worth it.

I saw the second movie this past weekend and have to agree with the person that mention the shaking camera. The car chase scene and fight scenes were tough to follow. Personally I like a stable camera during action. I guess some like the shaking camera. It makes them feel like part of the action I guess.

On a separate but related note there is another Jason Bourne book out. Robert Ludlum didn't write it since he's dead but his estate has endorsed the book and given the author the rights to use the characters. From what I could tell from the prologue it takes place in basically the present time, which would mean Bourne has to be about 60 if they keep his age the same like they did in the original books.

Maybe he's like high school girls, his age never changes.

I just saw it tonight. Think I liked the first one more...never read the books, but man this one was kind of surprising. A certain female being offed so fast...no way! Didn't see that one coming. The shaky camera thing pissed me off, it made the movie really difficult to follow. There's a time and a place to use it as a technique, but it was overdone. It's almost like they were too cheap to use booms or tripods or something. Cheapens the experience.

I was also underwhelmed by the car chase. Sure didn't beat Ronin for sheer amazement...and seemed to duplicate parts of it.

I liked the flick, don't get me wrong, but I liked the first one better, and I thought Ronin kicked ass by comparison.

No question about the car chase. I still think Ronin had the best car chase I have ever seen.

Word to Ronin....simply bad ass.

I saw Bourne Supremacy last night. About the only thing that it and the book have in common is the name. Overall, I thought the movie was okay.

Ronin = the shit.

Who wrote the Bournes? I'm definitely gonna check them out from the local library.

saw it last night. pretty damn cool movie!! the ending seemed abrupt though. Great chase scenes. the only part I really hated, was while Bourne is jogging gown the beach and his girlfriend is going through the book of...memories...stuff whatever. I realize why it was in the movie, just cheesy I thought...could have been cooler. The coast of India looks fuggin schweeeet though!

I saw this movie right when it came out, and I thought it was pretty good. I don't know if I liked it as much as the first, but I liked the ending better than the cheesy ending from the first movie.

About 5 years ago I started reading "The Bourne Ultimatum" (having no clue that it was the third book in a series), so it was a little hard to follow. I got through 300 pages then stopped for some reason. I definately want to read the first two first this time.

Finally caught this yesterday. The bobblehead camera effect was enough to make the GF a little quesey, but not too bad IMO.

Did like the fact that the developed the Bourne character more, some background etc, the background on his team before dibanding. Good turns, but not as well written as the first. Never picked up Ludlum before, but definitely considering it given the past threads.
