Broken Fritschi... Repairable?
Can this bracket be replaced? If not how about tig welding?

Wow, haven't seen that before. You should be able to weld or solder it. Those are probably you're best options. Even if you can fix it though, would you feel comfortable using them after. There is probably going to be a weak point, and prone to further breakage

Are you in Canda or the US?
Go back to the oringinal place of purchase with receipt and they will get sent back to either Black Diamond or ROI and you'll be taken care of.

I believe the failure was my fault due to not using the toe shim. About 2 years ago I had a forward fall when in tour mode that really levered the toe piece against the ski. You can see the notches in the side of the toe piece in the photo. This must have really flexed the mounting bracket and started the process that led to failure.
With my limited welding experience I think this will be tough to repair. There just is not a lot of material around the screw hole to work with. And the whole assembly looks to be riveted together so it would be difficult to replace the part. I will give BD a call to see what advice they can offer.
If I can figure out how to fix this one, this pair will be demoted to riding groomers with my kids.

tig welding will fix this stronger than original. that is, if its a quality tig weld. even a crappy tig weld will be worlds better than doing nothing. make sure to take a grinder to the paint around the crack, and clean it properly before attempting the weld and all should go fine.

Seems you had the same problem as me last year when I broke my white Diamir Freerides. Check out this thread : http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116290
The local diamir representatives told me this kind of damage is not covered by the warranty, but maggots in the US that had similar problems told me that the US representative - BD - replaced their bindings... so before trying to fix things yourself, try getting a new pair from BD. I also recommend you to get a pair of FR+ , their new locking mechanism solves most of the 'instant tele' problems that the old FRs had.

what if you took a relatively thin sheet of steel, cut it to the appropriate size to fit cleanly under the whole toe unit, and then welded it on around the entire perimeter. you'd get a pretty strong fix, and it might actually be stiffer / stronger than the original. Also, if you already have access to a welder, it'd be pretty cheap. The only real downside would be that you'd to shim the rear a bit to account for the extra height in the front (and you'd also have to do the same thing on the other binding).

Thank you Black Diamond!
I called BDE today and they are sending me a refurbished binding at a reasonable price. Great customer service for a binding that is going into its 7th season of use!
