Sushi appreciation thread!
I pretty much try the sushi everywhere I go. I have had some really great sushi and some really BAD sushi. Luckily I live right down the street from a decent sushi place that makes phone in orders fast... and they're CHEAP (for the area)!!!!
Cali and Dragon rolls here for under $10.

Mmmmmmmm. Sushi Sam's in San Mateo. Best sushi. I almost only order off the specials menu behind the sushi bar. One of my favorites is called Blue Shrimp. Its a special amaebi that they import from Japan live. So sweet and tasty.
If you find yourself in the Bay Area and want sushi, let me know and I'll meet you there. Perfect place to kill an hour before a flight out of SFO.**

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

As far as Nigiri Sushi goes, I've become a big fan of the Spider Roll:
If you're ever in DC and hankerin' for sushi, go to Sushi-Ko in Glover Park or Sushi-Taro in Dupont. The former is the oldest sushi restaurant in Washington, and the latter is where the Japanese politicians go when they're in town.Last edited by Tippster; 11-18-2008 at 04:56 PM.

Mmmmmm this makes me hungry.
Had some great salmon and avocado rolls last Thursday night in NYC. Went back Saturday for the same thing again it was so good.
There's a sushi buffet down here that, for a buffet, has some pretty good rolls. And you can't beat all you can eat sushi either. Always leave plenty satisfied.

the best I have ever had is in Vancouver at Tojo's anyone ever been there?
there was also a place in North Lake Tahoe maybe King's Beach area that comes to mind. Can't remember the name but it was right on the road between Kings Beach and Tahoe City.

It's bait.
Catch a fish with it and cook it.
Top-quality (we never or at least hardly ever see it and we live in an area where it does exist) tuna I can make an exception for.
People eating sushi in Omaha or whereverthefuck need their heads examined. Yeah planes are fast, but they don't go from Tsukiji to bumfuck nebraska direct.
If you are in Omaha eat cow.

I lived within a block or two of Sushi-Ko for about four years, every time i went past the place I was like "Rock 'n' roll, Sushi Ko!"
If you don't know who Rick Derringer is I bet this reminiscence sucked.
Perhaps it sucked even if you do know who Rick Derringer is.
