    I won't likely survive

It is so slow at work that I won't likely survive the next round of lay-offs. I have been doing some interviewing and I am not without prospects, but it's still very worrisome.

    "Hello, Mrs. Gadget . . . . . . . . err, um . . . . . . . . I lost my job today. If you need me I'll be dirt-jumping with Frizzo at I-Street."

    Expletive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: Sorry about the Dear Diary post.

they laid off a guy in my dept today. as I'm moving in september and have no desire to continue working here I'm trying to get laid off I just don't know how to do it. We are pretty busy all the time and I do my work. How can I make it make sense financially for them to lay me off. I told my supervisor straight up "Lay me off! These other guys have kids and mortgages and whatnot. I think your best move is to lay me off." and he laughed about it. any suggestions?

2 weeks of severace per every year worked is 12 weeks of severance. that's 3 months to you and me. I could move and STILL be getting paid plus go fishing every day and be wicked suspect around Boston...more so.

I got laid off 8 months out of college. It sucked, but the severance helped. This being Utah, and a right to work state, will your company have the decency to provide a severance? Hope so.

    Good luck IG!

And by the way, surfing the internet for strange pictures of lizards and the such is not "dirt jumping" no matter how you try to word it.

I've found that most of my really cool, memorable, life-adventures begin with me being fired from whatever crappy job I had at the time.

Go with it. at least you'll be able to collect some unenjoyment compensation.

There is always "The Full Monty". I hear it is a good way to raise cash when you are out of work

Good luck, I am sure it will work out. Good people are always in demand.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Damn, what a surprise seeing this thread. It had been so long since I posted my Dear Diary that I didn't even recognize it as my own.

How'd it work out? I took the summer off and had a great time. I joined my current employer in October and haven't looked back. Thankfully, this is not deja vu all over again.

    Good to hear!
