USB keys for MP3s on car stereo
Anyone using USB flash drives for MP3s on a car stereo? Fast enough data transmission for this to work?
(looking at new head units for Mrs. C.'s truck; many have USB key compatibility)

my advise-
bring a usb key to the store and try it out. I tried a few and hated the "browser" controls. basically you had to scroll through everything in artist alphabetical order on the cheapo ones.
the better ones, are well, better. sorry I can't be of more help

I have an Alpine deck with USB and iPod support. The data transfer rate for music is low so almost any drive will work. When you plug it in the deck will create an index so the more songs the longer it takes to get going. There can be compatibility issues too -- I have some songs that won't play even though they're fine on my computer and iPod. None of the ones I've checked out support playlists. I have a bunch of thumb drives (one for each "playlist") and set the deck to random.
Like jondrums said, the controls can be good or awful. Having a full 4 line by 32 character display helps. If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.
