I've always used Canon, but I really like Nikon, so...

    14-24 2.8
    24-70 2.8
    70-200 2.8
    TC-14E
    400 2.8
and i'm too lazy to look, but doesn't sigma make a sweet 5mm fisheye?

Among many other things it would certainly include this lens; the Nikon 300mm f2. Pretty ridiculous.

    Read about it:

I bought one of these a few weeks ago and it is a sick lens for $350. The f/1.2 L lens isn't any sharper, and anly a half stop faster, at 4x the price.

    $325 at Amazon.com

    I just shot this yesterday:

    1/320, f/1.4, 200ISO

How is the 5D working out for you? Pretty f'ing sweet, eh?

That 50 f/1.4 has got to be one of the best deals in Canon photography. Glad to see you are having fun with it.

It's remarkable. I'm absolutely in like with my new gear. I got the above mentioned 50mm, a 16-35 f/2.8L, the 70-200 IS f/2.8, the vertical grip, and some B+W UV filters.

Still need a Gitzo tripod/head combo, the B+W Kaesemann Circ. Polarizer, and either the Canon 580EX II or Metz 58 AF1 flash to fill out my quiver. Then it'll be on to all the Singh Ray toys, but that will wait 'til this gear starts paying for itself.

You'll love the 50 1.4 It was the first lens I put on my new 40D (a while ago). I just picked up some B + W cic. polarizers and the 430 EXII on E-bay...used the live search and save $$.

Now I need to save for the 200 2.8, x2, and the above mentioned tripod.

A Mark III so I can stop putting my 17-40 and 24-105 on an XTi.
    A 70-200 2.8 IS, of course.
    15mm2.8
    24-70 and also 24-105
    16-35
200, 300... and so on primes.
uhhhh, what else am I allowed?
    unlimited speedlites, some alienbees.
oh, and those new pocket wizards. unlimited flexs and minis!

    Realistically though?
My current setup is just fine. I mean maybe not 100% ideal for every situation, but a whole ton of new gear won't make me improve by the same amount.

oh, and a hassy or two. no biggie.

Nikon just announced a 35mm f/1.8 DX for $200 that I'd probably replace the sigma lens with. (12-24 makes me assume you're on a DX body...) Also maybe do the 80-200 2.8 cause it's lighter if you're using a d200/300 (anything less and the AF speed might come into play)?

I'm an too much of a rook to know what I'd want as a dream quiver. So a somewhat realistic (probably compared to others) one will be my submission. Still totally dreaming for me.

    To add to my 30D:

    10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
    17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
    24-105mm f/4L IS USM (replace my 28-135)
    70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM
    50mm f/1.4 USM
    Speedlite 580EX

    Realistically, I'd like to add a 50mm f/1.8, 70-200mm f/4 USM, and the 10-22mm.

Try the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 DX lens. Cheaper than the 12-24 and you may not use the 12-17 portion much.

edit: I guess it depends on how many lenses you want to drag around. a 17-50 and 80-200 make a nice pair. with the 12-24 you need something between it and the 80-200, and I find a 50 alone limiting, but the 12-24 and 17-50 overlap too much, and the f2.8 is nice to have.

I have a Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED IF AF-S DX that came with the body (no extra charge). I am not against replacing that with a better one eventually though.

edit: I want to keep the lenses I carry to a minimum. I would rather spend a lot of money on a few really good ones than a lot of money on a lot of lenses I will probably leave at home, if that makes sense?

Try the 17-50 and you'll never go back.
