Palin Prank Call: Masked Avengers, Canadian Comedy Duo, Convince Palin She\\\'s Talking To French President Sarkozy
Huffington Post | November 1, 2008 04:16 PM
Politico's Ben Smith is reporting, via The Canada Press, that a Quebec comedy duo, posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy, have successfully prank called Sarah Palin.
A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the interview, which lasts about six minutes, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the dangers of hunting with current vice-president Dick Cheney.
The Masked Avengers, who have a regular show on Montreal radio station CKOI, intend to air the full interview on the eve of the U.S. elections.
The Palin campaign issued a statement in response. Via Ben Smith:
"Gov. Palin received a phone call on Saturday from a French Canadian talk show host claiming to be French President Nicholas Sarkozy," emailed spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt. "Gov. Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy, and other celebrities in being targeted by these pranksters. C'est la vie."If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

Unreal. Simply unreal.
This election cycle is like crack to me - I'm obsessed and addicted. And this was my fix for the day.

Wow...just wow.
How can anyone listen to even 30 seconds of that without thinking something is up? She had no idea that she was being pranked until she was told, and then she immediately got off the line. You can tell she's pissed just by listening to her talk to her assistant in the background.
Priceless.Last edited by SnowRider4Life; 11-01-2008 at 06:55 PM.
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

Holy
. You know, according to actuarial tables, there is a 5-1 chance she'd be prez if the team is elected. Just imagine a spoof Putin call, during a nuclear conflict.
It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia.

I loved the line in French that refers to going hunting to kill baby seals. If she weren't struggling to stay "on message", I'd think that it was a comedian being Sarah Palin. But, hey, at least she's congenial.

I can't believe I wasted 5 minutes of my life on something so unfunny. You'd think they would have better material prepared if they went to all the effort to actually get the phone number and get the woman on the line.
