Hall & Oates
The Oates article in Powder got me to plug Hall & Oates into Pandora. That shit is terrible.
Unfortunately I like it and can't turn it off. Reminds me of middle school dances.
Now praying they don't do an article on Christopher Cross.

Almost as bad as Night Ranger. I unfortunately rediscovered "Sister Christian" last summer and ended up listening to it every day on the way to work for about two months.

Hall & Oates = classic. Say no go is probably the most sampled song of all time.

I'm just barely old enough to remember hearing them on the radio. They were the opposite of cool even when they were huge stars, but they produced some great vocals and melodies. I've always thought they were very talented but completely lacking in style. And "I Can't Go For That" is awesome by any standard.

Aside from their evident dorkiness, 'Livetime' is actually a kickass album, musically.
'Abandonded Luncheonette' and 'Sarah Smile', along with 'Rich Girl', are actually excellent.
Better musically than a lot of Metal, timing, melodically, etc, if you are a music nerd.
Shame they were such lameass fagwads.Last edited by rideit; 10-31-2008 at 12:01 AM.

Yo, you F'ing retards (including Tippster - just lost some well earned respect for you buddy); it wasn't "Powder" that the article was in; it was "Skiing"
Clarence Carter or Dickey Lee would definitely roll over in the grave on your post "patches"
p.s. go back, read the article, google H&O, then think 'bout posting young pup

I have no insight on the article in skiing, as I haven't read it, but Hall and Oates were fucking awesome. They were brilliant together, and nothing apart.
Did anyone notice GE Smith of SNL fame in that Maneater video?

Hall & Oates killed it on the regular. "Rich Girl" is my go-to karaoke jam, but only because I don't have a good enough voice to sing "Sarah Smile" or "She's Gone."

Look up Yacht Rock on You Tube and get the behind the scene story on Hall and Oates and other legends... the series hits its stride around episode 3...the only thing you'll regret is there is only 11 episodes and you'll probably find yourself with a Michael McDonald album for some reason on your iPod.

WTF? I'd say Good Times by Chic or Rick James' Superfreak. Who has sampled/used Say no go? (Is that really what it's called?)
Hall and Oates old music like Rich Girl, Sarah Smile, It's A Laugh, seems to have nothing to do with later crap. Yet another tolerable band killed by the '80's (see: Every band and musician from the Seventies except AC/DC and Neil Young).
One of them made a pretty good album with Robert Fripp. Hall, I think."Active management in bear markets tends to outperform. Unfortunately, investors are not as elated with relative returns when they are negative. But it does support the argument that active management adds value." -- independent fund analyst Peter Loach
