Do you Diggle?
Because I CAN-DIGGLE!!

My much beloved AS-X finally gave in, after 5 great years. I’ll miss her but I’m pretty psyched to upgrade to this….

Notice the sweet orange link, in loving memory of my AS-X

Pretty burly welds, extra gusseting for us bigger guys

Stiff rear end, Maxle axle, big bearings

Came in @ 37lbs with a solid build (Med frame):
DHx5 w/500 lb spring
Totem Solo Air, 1.5”
Chris King 1.5” headset
Easton 28” bars
Gravity Dropper (not in photo)
XT front / 09 Saint rear derailuers
Avis Elxir Carbon brakes with 203 /200 mm rotors (LOVE them)
Gravity light cranks (34/22)
e13 DRS
Shimano DX pedals
Hadley hubs
DT Swiss 5.1 front rim
WTB Freeride rear rim (over 300g less than the 729 I replaced, very durable so far)
Telonic 2.4” front
Maxxis High Roller 2.5” rear
Steel bell
ODI lockon’s
I hope to get an air shock (Rocco World Cup) this winter and I already have a lighter set of wheels that will get a set of 2.35" tires for pure cross-country use, at least my definition of pure XC. Should be around 34lbs when in my light configuration.
Love the ride. Very stable and balanced. I set it up in the 7" travel mode, never bottomed it this past weekend (we raced a very brutal SuperD in Moab that included a serious decent, no issues for my new bike; blew by a few pretty fast guys on the decent). Climbed very well, even quick. A great rider friend of ours followed me on numerous climbs and was shocked on how stable the bike looked while climbing; very, very little bob and the rear tire stayed glued to the trail. A well balance bike is so easy to adjust to, this bike was perfect for me right from the first pedal stroke.
There is nothing like having a new bike. No noise, just smooth parts working in unison to bring a huge smile to my face while riding."People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the
water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then?
WOULD IT!?!"

nice can...
Looks like Canfield is starting to become the new Yeti as far as the Kool-Aid. I now know two people that ride Canfields in Boise...a Balance and a One
How come you went for the Can Diggle instead of the One?
If you think there's very little bob now with the DHX Coil, wait til you get the Roco WC air...those things are great
btw...what's with the lawn chair-O-tires?Last edited by mtnjam; 10-28-2008 at 10:16 PM.

Did the Yeti actually die? Or just retired?
We should get a ride in this week...I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.

I took Chris's recommendation. They are both the same bike, the Can Diggle is just burlier. We ride pretty rough terrain fairly aggressively and I'm more worried about durability than a few ounces (or pounds I guess). I wanted a 1.5" head tube as well so I didn't have to buy a new headset or fork (both were/are 1.5"). Lastly, if I want to save any weight, I'll drop 20 lbs off my ass for a lot less money than trying to make a bike too light for my riding style (or lack of style is more like it).
I’m a bit bummed for Yeti, they took too long on bring something cool to the market. The Seven may be OK but I don’t think they are going to sell. I know carbon fiber is tough stuff but I don’t need it on my bike, the West is way too rocky to worry about carbon damage. The 575 was and still is a great bike but they are getting dated. Yeti could have beefed up the 575 and found a few more customers but they went too far with the Seven. The new SS stuff may work but again, it needs to be in shops, not just for the team under Pro riders."People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the
water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then?

Really well. I won the Expert class (no age groups, I was worried when I saw a few local bike shop young guns in my class). Connie got 3rd in the Open Woman's class. Kyle won the Open class, killed it. I should do a separate TR for the SuperD, great event that needs more support next year. The prizes were better than any race we have ever been to (including any National or National Championship we have ever been to). Kyle won a Marin 6" travel frame, the Woman's winner a 888Rc3 fork, Connie made $75, I won an 09 Saint rear derailleur. Many, many other big prizes, very impressive. Great organization and everyone had a great time. Free beer all over town, great parties, more people need to come to Moab for the Ho-Down (late Oct every year, used to the Fat Tire Festival). Our Buddy Von won the dirt jump contest on Sunday, won a RS Argyle fork.

We have been in Moab the last 5 weeks in a row, I HAVE to get some things done at home this weekend but we will ride. Maybe a cool shuttle in the local area??? Little trail work in Draper and then shuttle up so all the Sweater-vesters can get upset? (Sweater-vester = Lycra wearer, roadie on an MTB, more-than-18"-of-exposed-seatpost-on-the-deceent-rider)
The AS-X died, cracked weld. I'm still bummed because that bike took me up and down a LOT of trail all over the West; from Canada to AZ, Colorado to California, Boise to every corner of MT. I don't care what most people say, that bike ripped and took a LOT of abuse. She will be mounted in the garage in a place of honor. I do have a nice Pushed DHx5 that I need to sell now, 2.5" stroke, 8.75" ete, 550lb spring."People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the
water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then?
WOULD IT!?!"

Why can't any of my friends ride large bikes so that I may try them out.
Let me know if your going to ride a "cool shuttle in the local area" this weekend, I'll need a break from moving.

Isn't it funny how that works. My second to last ride on my VP, I put a big dent in the downtube. I mean, all the times I've crashed on that thing and some of them have been huge too. And I lay her over on a little crash and blammo.

If only that DHX were a 2.5 x 8.5...
Anyway, that's a sweet, sweet new rig, Mr. AG. I can't wait to get back out there soon so our new toys can meet up. Oh and I took your advice and have a nice burly 08 Saint on the new cruiser. So hopefully I don't break anything else next time.

Hot Diggity Diggle, that thing is sexy. I wanna ride it. The Yeti was crying to be retired, you're lucky she told you such in a nice way.
You know my feeling on used tires. Hell, you guys packed all of them.
Nice work at the Ho-Down, both of yinz. I hope you ate a bacon and cheese omelet at the Jailhouse in my honor.Last edited by bagtagley; 10-29-2008 at 06:03 AM.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Nice ride man! I'm so jealous. I was thinking of getting one of those to replace my Uzzi.
For as awesome as you say the Yeti was, you never rode it once in Whistler. The Diggle just might be the ticket for your trip to BC next year!

Um - my 3rd place was also last place. I flatted (put a big enough dent in the rim the tubeless quit holding) in the last big rocky section before the climb out (which was super fun as I kept losing more air with every pedal stroke until I was riding on the rim). Meh. It was still fun though (in a sick, I'm going to puke my lungs out sort of way), and the ride on Sunday was awesome. I finally rode the goalposts and am cleaning the 2nd half of the singeltrack under the cliff - yay!
We didn't go to Jailhouse this weekend. But we did cook a pound of bacon and then cook up hash browns in the bacon grease. We're all about a healthy breakfast...
