We just finished the first season DVDs from netflix. This show is $$. How many seasons are they up to now?

season 4 started sunday

Seeing the premeire 1/2 an hour early in Times Square drinking martinis with a number of hot dolled up ladies was nice.
like the Don rise from the ashes.
and i agree with the above, Stirling is killing it.
someone needs to put together a "conversation" of him and jack Donaghey of al theirkiller one liners.

just started the first season. haven't decided if i like it yet, but i've only watched the first two episodes

Please tell me you people are kidding! I watched half of the first season on DVD to see what the fuss was all about. I couldn't stand it! This show sucks! It's a boring, overly dramatic and unrealistic soap opera. It isn't even contextually accurate (i.e., many of the phrases and language that they use didn't show up in the culture until years later - NPR did a piece on this). It is an overblown caricature of some of the worse traits of capitalist culture and it's being shoved down your throats by, you guessed it, advertising folks at the networks. I think the popularity of shows like this is a sad comment on the state of our society and culture today. Is this the best we can do? Makes me sorry I have a t.v. at all and damn glad I don't watch it that much.

Although I don't agree completely as that's a lot of words to read but the misses keeps watching it and I've given up. It's fucking boring.

Just got into this show on Netflix. Very well written and engaging. Plus it doesn't hurt that Christina Hendricks is in it.

About a month to go until the new season!

What say yee? They are obviously ushering in the racial tension angle. Found the episode to be okay but after two hours, you would think they would foreshadow a few twists. Campbell and Sterling butt heads, okay. Draper has calmed down a bit but will likely start looking for fresh pie soon, okay. Needed more. At least it needed more debauchery.

First hour was mostly filling in, then it got interesting I thought (and loved the dance, especially when Sterling and then Price did it). I can't figure out if this is Memorial Weekend 1965 or 1964.

It's May of 1966.

Can someone remind me why I'm still bothering to watch this?

well, save for the much better show that immediately precedes it on HBO sundays now

What I like most about the show is this-

I grew up in Connecticut in the 60's, my dad not only looked like Draper but of course he and every one else taking the train into the city dressed just like them. Hats, overcoats, briefcases ect. The "bar car" on the commuter train was a scene right out of the show. My dad had this crazy suit and tie collection, lots of handmade shirts, tons of hats. When my parents threw parties they had Martini shakers, party dresses and sneaked the occasional joint. It brings me right back to those nights at 8 years old sneaking out of bed to watch them and their friends partying and signing ...

I would take the train in with him sometimes when he had to go for a half day. The offices, the secretaries, the drinking, it all reminds me of that time.
In the early 70's he stopped taking the train into Manhattan and worked closer to home. They do a remarkable job with it.

Haven't watched tonight's episode yet but Draper better rail some new biscuit tonight. And Roger better drink 14 martinis at lunch while wooing an account. And Campbell should shut his whiny trap for an episode. And I shouldn't have to hear anything about Red's family life or why January Jones is fat. Sex and alcohol. Bring it Mad Men cause I am nearly done.

It jumped up a notch, and I didn't see any fat women munching Bugles for the first time this season.

That was kinda weird with Roger dropping acid. Doesn't seem believable, being that Roger is older than my Dad and my old man was getting a little old at the start of the whole hippy/reefer thing, and was becoming a Dad around the whole Tim Leary era.

Don needs to move on/start playing again or there needs to be a whole big controversy with Betty, say her husband gets transferred to Washington and where do the kids go?
