La Grave, Trifide Couloir GoPro Fail

There's been a lot of people posting gopro footage of themselves ripping stuff recently, so I thought I'd post one of myself crashing into a load of rocks...

This was in Trifide 1 in La Grave, on April 21. The conditions here are incredible at the moment, and the snow that day was so good, I switched my brain off and forgot about the possibility of debris down the bottom.

The actual skiing starts at about 1.20, but I wanted to include my friend's comedy attempt at a kick turn too...

To Scottish's point I also spot a "ohhhhshitttt I am losing my pole but I can't stop" in this vid too.

So, where did you leave your poles?

Looks like somebody needs to do some edge work on their skis

Looks like all ended well, no damage to you , I hope.

Bobby, it's like someone threw a jar of salad cream at you or something. In the 10 days I was in La Grave, I only saw one person I was skiing with fall. It was right there. She got so freaked out she packed up her shit and went home. For reference, these shots are basically right off the lift. It is easy to get complacent at La Grave. Even the "easy" routes have serious consequences.

Haha - that's quality Bobby, looked great right up until the rocks. McHardy's kick turn is probably better than some of mine but at least they haven't been caught on camera yet!

Why do you hold your right ski pole like that? Looked weird to me. Know your lines, if your firing it that hard into rocky zones with questionable snow you might want to rethink your program. Entertaining tho for sure.

Ballsy entrance, self arrest attempt on rock, no serious injury and a "FUCK" at the end.

thanks ripz, i have spent a fair bit of time in la grave! and i did know the line pretty well.

i guess in hindsight i feel like my mistake was to try and control my speed by continuing to make turns once i hit the crud - i say this knowing that the couloir has a long run out, and when i hit the debris, i should of just pointed it and trusted my skis.

as for my right hand pole, i don't know what's going on there. i was holding it like that before i even started skiing, so i guess i was just focused on my run, and hadn't noticed, and then once i was off, it was too late to change it.
