John McCain will be your next president.

    It's been nice knowing you...

I was happy that we still got to put a big X beside the name of the candidate we wanted to choose. Paper doesn't lie. Databases do.

Did you miss the thread title? The election results have already been broadcast everywhere outside the US. We're not supposed to break the blackout, but whatever, you deserve to know.
Weird about Ohio. Oops, sorry, well you'll see...

Blurred, I don't profess to be a Canadian like Cliff, but a Canuck is what I am by fortune of birthplace. Now I know you Yanks could give a fuck about Canadian politics, hell 1/2 of you would probably be hard-pressed to name our equivalent of Washington, DC ( excluding the members of this forum of course), but who you elect into power in November will have a profound effect on Canada. It always does, always has and always will. We don't really give a rats ass about the politics of Germany or France or Japan ( generally speaking), but we definitely do about the good ol' US of A.

It's couldn't give a fuck. That makes sense in that they don't care at all, couldn't give a fuck, couldn't care less. Here, you do it right further in your post:

    Example:

    Don't give a rat's arse = don't care.

    Couldn't give a fuck = don't care

Could give a fuck = you DO care.

Why do so many people get this wrong these days? It changes the meaning of the entire statement.

It would be fun to bet, but I think it would violate American law. Otherwise I'd do it - pending approval from the chancellor of my exchequer, of course. Haven't broached the subject with her yet.

Hohes, was that a preposition you ended that sentence with?

I know the opinion polls don't mean shit, but with the gap between Obama and McCain closing at this stage, I think that bodes quite well for John McCain. If I were a betting man I might even take blurred up on that bet but I'd rather blow that $100 on poker!

But that's not the case. Obama is increasing his lead.

National popular polls mean nothing. You have to look at WHERE the votes are coming from.

You need 270 electoral votes to win. With 2 weeks to go, Obama has a COMFORTABLE (5+ percentage points) lead in enough states to get him 280electorial votes. McCain has 151. Do you think that many states are going to not just break McCain was, but reverse and swing McCain's way? It's just not going to happen. When you figure in the tied and weakly supporting states its Obama 364, McCain 171. The hole is too deep for McCain to dig out of. Unless something drastic happens, it's over.
This is the worst pain EVER!

If you're worries about breaking American law, I'll take the bet with Canadian dollars from a Canadian acct on behalf of blurred. Never money never has to cross the border.

Great. Now you can add money laundering to the list of charges.

However, there is a way around it for the trivial amounts you pikers are talking about:
Post opposing bets on the Iowa Electronic Markets Presidential Election Market. Limit is $500.

Since the prices are adjusted for the odds (currently $87 Obama, $12 McCain), it won't even be such an obvious waste (compared to the even-odds bets offered here).
