I'll cut you (stolen bike related)
If any of you SLC mags see an orange 575 w/ a black goat sticker, it's mine.
Dan's Switch was also taken.
Lynx and her roommate Jamon also got theirs taken....all of these were in their locked up garage.
I really, really HATE people who feel it's OK to break in and take multiple bikes and tools.
Effff you.you sketchy character, you

damn i HATE seeing these threads. grrrr.
hope they get found.
and to others reading this, consider it a reminder to a) take good clear photos of your bike from time to time if you modify the parts build b) write down the frame serial number for ID purposes (especially important for frames that are common).197 Katanas for sale, very low miles.

Me too! Hopefully you guys had your serial numbers written down?
Fack, I NEED to do that.
I hate to bring this up, but after deductables and what they'll penalize you if you have to file another claim in the next 3-5 years, you might be better off to just eat the loss. Sucks, I know as I had to do it when my bike got thrashed on my roof. It's worth a conversation with your agent.
Edit: just read the other thread, with 5 bikes gone it's worth it to file the claim. You might want to talk to your agent about how much time you have to file....Last edited by Lonnie; 10-09-2008 at 12:08 PM.

Any idea how those people got their bikes back? Police? P.I.? perusing ebay, craigslist, pawnshops etc. maggot beatdowns?
I always thought searching for something like a stolen bike was like looking for a nun in a whorehouse.
Altachic and the rest +++Vibes and good luck w/ the searchA good friend would come bail you out of jail. A great friend would be sitting next to you saying..."but damn that was FUN"

I know what both bikes look like and will certainly keep an eye out L.
I wish I knew what Lynx and roommates bike looks like.
That is horrible news. Very sorry to hear.
Think I will lock mine while in the locked garage now.

multiple bikes?!?! Glad to hear you got 'em back.
That's free enterprise but yeah it'd be nice if pawnshops required some kind of record keeping to track where stolen goods came from. I'd like to think many of the shops already do that sort of thing though. Did you have to buy your stuff from the pawnshop or did the pawnshop eat the cost?
What the hell is going on out there in Utah? I thought the Mormons lived by some saying along the line of though shall not steal.Last edited by madturtle; 10-09-2008 at 12:45 PM.

They had to eat the cost. THAT IS ALSO WHY YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL IN YOUR DEALING WITH THEM! Make sure the stuff doesn't "disappear". I'd go to a pwanshop with a camera to illustrate what I find if I was going on a pawnshop tour to find my stuff. In this case they had 2 high end bikes and a D70 camera + lens and shit from me. They probably lost some coin on that one.

you guys know i don't bike, but you are all my friends. this sucks. i'm sorry. will keep an eye out around town and on the trails. i'll be more than happy to lay a shoulder into some thieving, little, peddle pounder as they come by. Or, if the Salt Lake contingent of the TGR Bike Force can corner these folks, I'd be more than happy to go Full Metal Jacket on them.
sincerely hope they turn up somewhere."... she'll never need a doctor; 'cause I check her out all day"

Best of luck in finding the bikes. We don't have the squishy bikes you are accustomed to, but AC, you and Dan are welcome to take our bikes down to Moab this weekend. We have other plans.

OMG, that is so dreadful. I really hope that they can be found. Damn!
Good vibes that you are reunited with your bikes soon.
Definitely think you should borrow Hutch's bikes for the weekend.Last edited by Spark; 10-09-2008 at 02:22 PM.

Yes.
The first pawn shop owner recognized the bikes as racing bikes, refused them and called Go-ride.com who called me . Also got their plate number. That one was the one on 33rd.
The other one were they got pawned I forgot the name but was in the area as well. Just a few miles from my house mind you.
It still took me another month to wait for the paperwork to get completed tough. Quite frustrating to know where your bikes are and not be able to get them!
GOOD LUCK!

I know someone who got their stolen bike back when the idiot who stole it happened to bring it in to the shop it had been purchased from for repairs. Bike shop employees recognized the bike, knew it had been stolen recently and called the cops. (Obviously this probably wouldn't do much good unless you have either a rare or customized bike or the serial number.)

did they have to sit at the pawn shop that long or do the police take them at that point and hold until the paper work is done?
