Reno/Tahoe Mags: Behold - Fontaine radness... (Awesome-related)
JEEEEEAAAAAH, BOIII!!!

So once I get my garage wired right, buy some emulsion fluid, and un-clog the submersible pump, I'll get started on practicing with some old beater skis, and before you know it - I'll have a (mostly) full-service shop in my garage.
So... anyone who needs some good base grinding can stop by...
I accept:
Beer,
Gear,
Dates with your sister,
Good stories,
Etc....
Should be a sick season!
p.s. - any shop rats who know how to use this, who might be able to give me a few pointers... you're more than welcome to.Last edited by GapersGoHome; 10-08-2008 at 03:29 PM.

WTF man, do I count 23 pairs of skis on that wall? INSANE. I love it.

Sweet set up, I look forward to a tr with pictures on how the first few "grinds" turn out."Wherever beer is brewed, all is well. Whenever Beer is drunk, life is good" -- Czech proverb.

Well, one pair isn't mine, one's a shotski (the AK rocket on the left), and a couple are chick skis... and those two on the right are gonna be sacrificed in the name of practice... but, yeah. It's a fluid number.
and there will be a TR, I'm sure... hopefully not a "holy shit, I just ground my fingerprints off" TR.

seeing my comis on the wall in someone else's garage makes me sad, but when I move back to tahoe in january I will be giving you beer for a grind or two, though I do have a few amazing stories
Three fundamentals of every extreme skier, total disregard for personal saftey, amphetamines, and lots and lots of malt liquor......-jack handy

Sweet baby jesus.
Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?

That's rad, you've officially one up'd me in the tuning dept of of your garage. Also good to know someone out there has the same addiction to purchasing skis that I do! Guess it's better than a meth addiction.

What size belts does it take? I'm sure they're 6" wide, but how long?
Bring it over to PM Gear and we'll get it running for you. Might have some extra belts for you as well if they are 79-80 inches.

BWAHAHAHA.
Absolutely, we'll have to trade some good stories and swill a few brews... Comis look good on the wall; they'll look even better on my feet, though. Don't worry, they'll get plenty of use this year!
Only slightly better than a meth addiction. I do have a problem; I still have a pair of Shoots on the way.
Sounds good, Pat - I'm not going to bring the whole thing over to your shop, as it's such a bitch to get in and out of the LandCruiser, but I can bring the belts over to see if they're the same size... I'm stoked!!!
Hm. the belt's only 6" wide... so if your snowboard is more than about 11 1/2 inches wide, it won't work...

This is very cool. Where did you get it?
I have no idea how to use that machine, but if you need any (more typical) shop tools to get it running, I have lots of standard stuff: basically anything needed to fix a car or a bicycle, I have it.

Craigslist, where else?!? Had to. Saw the price, thought the guy had left out a '0'... turns out he was just replacing it with a stone grinder, and wanted good gear karma, I guess... Hopefully I can start a bit of a business on the side. Shouldn't take much to recoup the cost!

Would it be possible to pay with say a pony keg and secure access for the entire season
? And, I have some experience so I may be able to help with some hang-ups or snags.
Also, I have a bit of experience running wire, so if you need help getting that thing fed I'd be happy to help provided I'm available.
okbye

God, this thing brings back memories... when I worked at a ski shop in Sacramento in the late 80s/early 90s we had that exact same model Fontaine machine. For a few months, Fontaine's kid even worked at our shop. I think they were based out of Rancho Cordova. Does it have the bevel adjustment in the middle?
I vaguely remember changing belts from coarse to medium to fine when I was really determined to put a good tune on my K2 KVCs.
Have fun! Oh... and nice quiver!

After you practice on RaccoonFace's skis, I have 6 or 7 pair that could use a good rogering. I have many old fleeces for trade.
Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?
