How to Edit POV1 Files in Mac

I have gotten quick time to recognize POV1 files (avi4 I believe) however I still can't get them to work in iMovie HD or in Final Cut Pro HD. Is there a codec for those programs or something? Or is there a way to use the quick time codec in either of those programs?

    Thanks

Download and install this http://perian.org/ and import the .avi movie file into a new FCP project. You'll still have to render the .avi file if you do any editing in the timeline, but everything should work smoothly. Or you can export a full-res quicktime of the entire .avi and then use that for editing so you don't have to render, but I doubt that'll save you much time.

edit-if you can get quicktime to read the files it sounds like your computer already has something to read the POV1 codec. What version of FCP are you using?

I'm using 4.5. Perian seems to work. Thanks.
