To ski or not to Ski?
Pros: Skiing in June, Steep coulior, Skiing In June 2000' of snow
Cons: Probably Fatal exposure (if I slide into rocks at 60 mph its all over), Unknown approach (probably 4 miles) unknown snowpack (its summer) unknown steepness, people have died there
WWMD?Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care

Isn't there some rule about climbing stuff before you ski it? Since it sounds like you really have no clue what's going on in this couloir, maybe you should climb straight up it, instead of approaching it from a ridge. That may answer some of your questions.

To ski, or not to ski: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of summer's fortune,
Or to take skins against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to Ski wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of heat,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of melting snow, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. - Soft you now!

Things to ask yourself before attempting something heavy:
Have you climbed this couloir? Do you intend to the day of the ski? It's far preferable to have climbed the couloir first to know exactly what you're getting into. Do you have appropriate mountaineering skills and gear? Can you do an ice-axe self arrest? Do you know how to rapel? It's always possible to find a blue ice or rocky bit that requires a downclimb. (Of course, you would know exactly where these obstacles are if you climb the couloir first...)
Who would you be going with? These things are NOT to be done alone. Have you skiied with them before? Have you climbed with them before? Do you have some medical knowledge and some at least cursory plans for emergancies? Most of all, do you trust these people with your life?
Anyways, it sounds interesting. If you have good answers to all of these questions (I'm sure the minions will add some that I have forgotten) then I say go for it.

You've got a whole season to work on your skills before you attempt to win that $50 off me, Pat.

Don't try to run before you can walk.

Don't do it kid!
There must be a local climbing scene near you. Find someone you can learn from to mentor you.
Don't go alone and don't get dead. It'll really piss of your mom and you'll never get laid

It was explained to me about summer snow pack: either its not steep or there is a lot of snow or its steep and there is a lot of snow and its about to slide
there is some low angle jibbing stuff back there too that I might check out if I can ever convince any of my pussy friends to come withIts not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care

WWMD?
A maggot would make excuses not to go because there is no chair lift to sit on.
What should you do?
Go!
Summer skiing is a lot of fun and will make you a better skier in the winter. If the 4mile approach seems long, just take overnight gear and spend the night out there!
Ski the apron if you go solo and are worried about being safe in the couloir. The experience will make you stronger…I promise! Good luck.
