An Email From Bill Heath
After Jason from Line posted in here, effectively decimating any hope for maggot support, I thought I'd take the liberty of posting a different sort of take on customer service.
I ordered Sinners a short while ago and it never arrived, so I emailed the billing company and told them the situation. This is the response I got, straight from Bill Heath:
Hi,
Yes, we did send the dvd and to the post office as requested. I don't mind dropping another in the mail tomorrow. If you end up with two, just give one to someone you love...
Cheers,
Bill
Simply amazing customer service. This guy deserves our support and I hear the movie is really something, too!"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."

Bill Heath is a rare and exceptional person. Sinners is a rare and exceptional film. I ordered Sinners last winter and said to put it on my card. Bill wrote back that their bank had not yet set up for credit card orders. He sent the dvd immediately, WITHOUT payment as he did not want me or anyone to miss out seeing it. THAT is rare and exceptional customer service!

Ditto, simply an amazing guy. I called up to order and he answered the phone, and told him about the rave reviews the movie was getting here. He said that if I was ever up near Whitewater to let him know so he could give a tour. Gives the ski industry a good name, and based on customer service alone, I'd buy his other movies.

Good news, and that flick is highly regarded around here.

I've posted here before about the hoops Bill jumped through to make sure we had Sinners and Ski Your Ass Off for Crackhouse I. Including, him personally calling (twice) and emailing me many times. He never charged me a dime and refused offers to pay.
I'll buy (if he'll let me actually pay him) any movie he ever makes.
Truly, an amazing soul.Gonna tell a story, morning glory, all about the serpentine fire

Yup, same experience here, e-mailed him back and forth for the order, took the time to give me some beta I was looking for on Nelson, told me to make sure to dial him up whenever I'm in town to get a beer.
Funny, the movie came after I tore my ACL, so I watched it once but really wasn't into it cause of the injury thing. Then, about a month ago, I decided I was far enough along in the recovery that I could start thinking about it again, so I popped it back in. Hasn't left the changer since. Fantastic vid, just too short. The absence of hip-hop and metal is greatly appreciated.

That reminds me, did you get the actual box, like the teak thing? Told me that was taking longer than expected so he sent out the vids first and would get those out when they were done. Maybe I should ask him 'bout that.Originally posted by iceman

i bought sinners about a year ago.. it holds up to repeated viewings, my 8 year old loves it, and it has a couple nice trailers for a video and a surf movie.. i bought it without the box though to save a few $
what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

I had a similar encounter, Rev. I actually received 2 copies of Sinners when I only ordered one. Baffled, I called Bill and explained my situation on the answering machine. Within 15 minutes he called me back and apologized (that's right) for any inconvenience. I repeatedly insisted that I had no problem sending it back, and he repeatedly declined. His solution, "just give it to someone who will appreciate it."
After that discussion, he asked me my opinion of the film. He was amazed that a person from West Virginia had even heard of him, and was very appreciative for my support. He seems like a world class guy, and I'll have no hesitation supporting his future work.
BTW, Pororoca is available, you just need to call him to arrange shipment.Last edited by bagtagley; 06-29-2004 at 09:34 AM.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Similar thing happened with me. I got Sinners as a Christmas present from my parents, and my mom said she had called to order it, after talking with him about payment, he said just drop the check in the mail whenever you get the chance. In addition to Sinners, he sent me a copy of Ski Your Ass Off 2 free of charge. Great guy all around.

Received mine last week - I'd emailed him since my paypal order from the website hadn't been prossesed. He apologised profusely and sent me the cedar box "to make up for it". Films cool - kind of short but pleasantly absent all the crap and filler that gets put into most ski movies. Great music as well.

It seems like some people are having difficulties with the ordering process, but just for balance mine went through without a hitch, I received it about a week after I ordered it from the site.
-
06-29-2004, 10:20 AM #18And it turns out mine was sent to the wrong PO Box (billing PO instead of my work PO, which I requested). So it went out just fine....it was my fault for not checking my PO. Just watched it at work and it rocks!Originally posted by iceman

Another good story on my end: recieved the vid last year before even paying. He totally left it up to me to drop a cheque in the mail (which I did). He apologized 'cause it was only a pre-lim copy and said he'd send me the pressed versions when he had them. A couple months later I emailed to inquire. He followed up by sending two more copies my way. Same instructions: pass one along to someone who'll appreciate.
First rate.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and love the little sinners),

06-29-2004, 12:43 PM #20And I will have to say thank you very much to Bagtagley, as he decided I was the one "who will really appreciate it" and I have watched it a good 2 dozen times easily.Originally posted by bagtagley

Yeah, pretty cool and simultaneously hilarious looking at the straight skis and folks skiing wearing toques w/ giant 3-lb beanies on them. I don't think it will be appreciated by the masses, but it's a good reminder that taking air, skiing fast, etc. wasn't invented when fat skis appeared.Originally posted by Beaver

Bill Heath is getting a ton of business off his good customer service (PMGear heads take note). I'm ordering a copy of Sinners for my dad's birthday...

forgot to add that the price of the movie is worth it just for the footage at the very end of bill's kids tearing it up
