Scary stuff. She reminds me of the devilish women in Human Resources who interviewed me a few months ago. The kind of woman who should never be told where the loaded gun is kept.

It isn't necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia.

Give it a break. Like Michelle is a real catch... At least Cindy has done some REAL humanitarian work. But go ahead - call me a liar. Call out the hate squad.

    Adopting a child=great

Braying about it to try to win votes=creepy and tacky

She should be above acting like that, that's all. If she's done good work, well, that's nice.

It may be a defining moment for their family. It's a big deal to some people.

You must be referring to when Cindy stole prescription drugs from her own nonprofit medical foundation. She helped herself to the drugs because she had a Percocet and Vicodin habit.

    Some humanitarian.

How does that change her humanitarian work? Weak comparison. Painkillers vs. removing landmines? Getting medical aid to those who would otherwise have NONE? Michelle has yet to do something for someone besides Michelle - but then again "she's just realizing for the first time in her adult life that it's ok to be proud of America", so maybe that is about to change. For Barry's sake, I hope they keep her in a closet until the campaign is over. She can't hide what she really is - even though she's been in the spotlight a VERY short time, she is the darling of the right-wing media because she's a walking soundbyte every time she opens her mouth. I don't find her terribly likeable. Barbie Doll McCain is nothing special either, but at least you don't have the thinly-veiled contempt for her country like you do with Shelly. JM's wife has been doing the dance for quite a while - not much dirt for a person who's been in the game for over 20 years. The Obamas are living the American Dream, but you'd never know it from the way Michelle talks. She's got a serious chip on her shoulder, and I'm not really quite sure why. If she wants to trade lives with me, I'd be happy to live her "struggles".

I bet if we dug deep enough, we'd find everyone has a vice or two - Barry's cocaine experimentation per chance? Even a partisan hack like me doesn't go there, cuz it doesn't really matter to me. It's in the past, and you can't change that, but you CAN learn from it.

I'd LOVE to have a Vicodin habit if I had the means...at least I'd be able to function without the pain I'm constantly dealing with, but that shit scares me. I like it a little too much.

Damn Cliff, sorry, gotta agree with ya.

I thought the other side took the high road, saying families and particularly kids are off limits. So what do we hear about from Palin and the McCain's? Family blah blah blah...
The blues has always been about taking your problems and turning them into something you can dance to, drink to and fuck to.
We're certainly not a blues band in any kind of purest sense, but to me Rock and Roll has always had it's roots in that tradition.

Are you all as stupid as you sound? Criticizing candidates and their wives for talking about their good points at a convention. Why didn't I hear any criticism of Michele Obama for making her crippled father into a hero. Why didn't Obama talk about why he has neglected to help his brother. At least, Cindy McCain helped someone besides herself. Blah, Blah, blah.

I have to say I was impressed by the video of Cindy. I found myself thinking to bad she isn't up for V.P. at least she has seen issues that affect other parts of the world. Too bad she had to give a speech which totally sucked. After seeing that ridiculous Palin video put out by some PR firm you have to think maybe her humanitarian work was also probably embelished a bit. Embelishment or not the video clip did impress me and good of her to adopt a child, and hard to go wrong being seen with Mother Theresa.

I think it is great to do humanitarian work, but being worth 5 Billion, or what ever the number is, helps. Hell Bill Gates is a humanitarian only because he can afford to be one.

She certainly doesn't need to go to work, and with her income it is either travel the world, or join the PTA. Had she choosen the PTA route, which might be president by now, it seems to be a pretty important credential.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...
