    Gretch-

Did you even read what you just posted? If you did read it but didn't understand it, let me sum it up for you. The right wing has accused Obama of being a liar. Every instance that he is accused of lying about, is shown to actually be truthful.

So the question begs itself, why would a right wing fanatic as yourself be so dumb as to completely undercut your own argument by reprinting that article here? I'm hoping that you just didn't read it.

Gretch, I've edited out all the random junk (and not added in a thing), I just left the meat... and added colors to organize it a bit.

Turns out, the text in YOUR posts actually defends Obama on EVERY point. Gretch = IDIOT!!!

THE FACTS: But a flub by Obama in the debate suggested he does not know him that well: He called Ayers an English professor. Ayers teaches education at the University of Illinois at Chicago and has been an education adviser to Mayor Richard Daley.

THE SPIN: Obama said Clinton was not one to talk about guilt by association because "President Clinton pardoned or commuted the sentences of two members of the Weather Underground, which I think is a slightly more significant act than me serving on a board with somebody for actions that he did 40 years ago."

THE FACTS: Obama correctly sketched out the details of Bill Clinton's acts in the case.

    # Selma Got Me Born - LIAR, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.

This criticism is based on an overly-literal interpretation of Barack Obama's 2007 speech in Selma, Alabama, which we covered in a separate article.

    # Father Was A Goat Herder
    - LIAR, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.

These attributes are not mutually exclusive: Barack Obama's (biological) father was all of these things at different times in his life, as Obama described in his book

    # Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - LIAR, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.

We are unaware of Barack Obama's ever having claimed his father was a "proud freedom fighter."

    # My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - LIAR, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades.

As we discussed in a separate article, Kenyan politician Raila Odinga has recently claimed to be Barack Obama's cousin, but there is no substantive evidence documenting his claim

    # My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - LIAR, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. According to the New York Times: "I am a strong believer of the Islamic faith," Ms. Obama, 85, said in a recent interview in Kenya.' Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.

The author seems to be unaware that Barack Obama, like most people, has two sets of grandparents. Obama was speaking of his maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, not his paternal grandmother.

    # My Name is African Swahili - LIAR, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.

The author seems to be unaware that many Swahili words and names are of Arabic origin (just as many English words originated with other languages). "Barack" is a Swahili name that entered the language via historical trade and cultural ties with Arabia.

    # I Never Practiced Islam - LIAR, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.

The topic is already covered in our separate article about the (false) claims that Barack Obama is a Muslim.

    # My School In Indonesia Was Christian - LIAR, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).

The author seems to be unaware that Barack Obama attended more than one school in Indonesia, one of which was a public school that included Islamic religious instruction among its curriculum, and one of which was a private Catholic school.

    # I Was Fluent In Indonesian - LIAR, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

We are unaware of Barack Obama's ever having claimed he was "fluent" in any Indonesian language (beyond the level of competence that could reasonably be expected of the non-native child speaker he was at the time he lived in that country). He did acquire (and apparently still has) a passable command of Bahasa

    # Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - LIAR, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language.

Barack Obama did live in Indonesia for four years as a child, and he could in fact speak the local language passably well. Whether his time in that country provided him more "foreign experience" is argumentative, but Obama himself is far from the only person to suggest that it might

    # I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - LIAR, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.

Barack Obama has lived in, traveled to, or otherwise spent time in countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Whether his experiences make him "stronger on foreign affairs" is argumentative, but again, Obama himself is far from the only person to suggest that it might

    # A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - LIAR, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

That no matching article may yet have been found in the pages of LIFE magazine does not mean that Obama saw no such article; it may simply mean that, writing decades after the fact, he misremembered the title of the magazine he was viewing.

    # I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - LIAR, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

Senator Obama never stated categorically that he would not run on a national ticket in 2008. He at one time said that he had "no plans" to run for national office in 2008

    # I Was A Professor Of Law
    - LIAR, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

Barack Obama was indeed a professor at the University of Chicago's Law School, a fact verified by that institution itself:

    # I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - LIAR, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

(Tim's note: no info here, see above...)

    # I Didn't Run Ads In Florida - LIAR, you allowed national ads to run 8-12 times per day for two weeks - and you still lost.

In January 2008, the Obama campaign launched national television advertisements on CNN and MSNBC that were also shown in Florida. Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton maintainted that they had asked CNN and MSNBC to pull Florida from the ad buy, but those networks said they could not.

    # I Won Michigan - LIAR, no you didn't.

Senator Obama never claimed to have "won" Michigan, save for an interview in which he misspoke and mentioned the wrong state name.

    # I won Nevada - LIAR, no you did not.

Senator Obama didn't claim to have "won" Nevada (a state that holds caucuses rather than direct-election primaries); he noted, correctly, that although Senator Hillary Clinton tallied more overall votes at the Nevada caucuses, he actually picked up more national delegates from that state

    # I Don't Take PAC Money - LIAR, you take loads of it.

He pledged that he would not accept PAC money for his 2008 presidential bid, a pledge that he has upheld.

    # I don't Have Lobbysists - LIAR, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.

Senator Obama did not claim that he doesn't "have lobbysists" [sic]. He stated that he does not employ federally registered lobbyists

    # My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - LIAR, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.

A widely-circulated spoof of Apple Computer's famous 1984 television advertisement for their (then-new) Macintosh computer was not created by an Obama campaign worker.

    # I Have Always Been Against Iraq
    - LIAR, you weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you Obama. You also seem to be stepping back from your departure date - AGAIN.

Senator Obama expressed opposition to the war in Iraq well before he gained a seat in the U.S. Senate in 2004.

You're so thick that you can't even understand the re-posting of an article.

Let me summarize for you....the thread was about so called "lies" coming out of the GOP convention...so I posted about the so called "lies" coming from DNC ads....then, are you following me here?...I posted a listing of so called "lies" coming from the right that Obama is being accused of saying...under each of those is a rebuttal from Obama's campaign showing that they don't feel they are lies.

I did not post any of this in support of one candidate or another and the post with Obama's rebuttals is obviously not in support of McCain. It was all posted to show how BOTH parties spin and misquote each other in an effort to convince the people that are unwilling to do the research that it is true.

Was that so hard? I think not!

I did read them...but wanted to clarify again, since there seems to be some reading comprehension problems around here.

And since you posted it again in bright green....why does defending Obama on certain points make me an idiot???

On your first sentence here... OK, fine.

On the second... for the record the bright green was there the first time too. And the two posts you had in this thread (before you went spewing all that cut and paste) indicated that you felt the Democrats lied too... a position that CLEARLY indicated to all of us that your following posts were showing the Democratic (Obama) lies. How could we have concluded otherwise?

    Here are those 2 posts as evidence your honor;

    * An earlier ad attacks McCain for saying the nation's economy is "prosperous" and "better off overall" than eight years ago. The ad uses a couple of incorrect statistics to argue otherwise. It says the country has lost 1.8 million jobs when, in fact, it has gained nearly 5.4 million, and it says gasoline prices have risen 200 percent, when the actual figure is 139 percent.
Edit: This is a portion of your post AFTER the big cut and paste...

Who cares what I think... and this might be a cover story, but next time just do a little better job EXPLAINING what you are doing BEFORE you do it and you'll not get all the misunderstanding from what looks like most every Mag reading the thread.

I do feel that the Democrats lie also....you will notice however that I never once refuted the original post as incorrect....I simply said "is that all you can come up with?"

As in.....there has to more. I post a couple things about Obama's suckage, and all the sudden I am a hardcore right wing conservative.

Did it ever occur to you that someone can find faults in both candidates and their VP's?

Also, just because I refute an argument in support of Obama or McCain, that doesn't automatically put me into one camp or the other....it is just that most of the postings have sucked.

Quick question on this Rainbow Brite, because I'm not sure the repost of this repost of this repost addresses it:

How can Barack say he doesn't really know Ayers if he kicked off his state senate campaign at his Chicago home?

It's funny how you people think that your savior Obama and the democrats never lie. Only republicans lie. God forbid you call out someone you support.

Case in point: Obama says "change in America" yet he voted for the patriot act??? Even after he said he would vote against it???

Case in point 2: Dex Rutecki here actually believes that Obama will somehow magically eliminate the US need for oil within the next few decades, just because he said so! He offers no actual plan at this point. Who would question that?

Have you people really become so brainwashed that you believe republicans are always wrong, and democrats are always right?

I'm not an expert on all this... but Google is my friend. This is the most detailed description I can find of that exact event at Ayers home; My quick take is it looks like the event was set up by the prior holder of that State Senate seat, Alice Palmer...

    Quote Originally Posted by Politico.com

While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.

Now, as Obama runs for president, what two guests recall as an unremarkable gathering on the road to a minor elected office stands as a symbol of how swiftly he has risen from a man in the Hyde Park left to one closing in fast on the Democratic nomination for president.

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said.

Obama’s connections to Ayers and Dorhn have been noted in some fleeting news coverage in the past. But the visit by Obama to their home — part of a campaign courtship — reflects more extensive interaction than has been previously reported.

Neither Ayers nor the Obama campaign would describe the relationship between the two men. Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends,” but there’s no evidence their relationship is more than the casual friendship of two men who occupy overlapping Chicago political circles and who served together on the board of a Chicago foundation.
