Please help me decide...
Ok im trying to decide between the 09 motherships and last years 193 EHP, im only 5' 10'' and almost 150 pounds. I like the idea of the shape of the EHP, but havent and wont get a chance to try them before making a purchase. I cant find the weight of the motherships anywhere? and i know that the EHP is a heavier ski, not necessarly a good thing for me. I want a ski that charges hard, but i can also throw some spins and flips off of cliffs with. I ski a lot of pillow lines, and some are in the trees, so i would think the 24m radius on the motherships would be good for that, but how about the charging compared to the ehp? I live in Juneau Alaska, and ski Eaglecrest, and i do a lot of small touring trips (with trekkers), like day long and such, and plan on doing some shredding in haines this year as well. Another factor in my decision would be the price difference, i think the EHPs are like 470ish and the motherships are 700 dollars. I want to know what ski you guys would suggest for me without including the price differnce tho. Thanks for any input, and feel free to ask any question that might be a factor in the decision.

I know there's quite the price difference but I would personally suggest the Motherships... EHPs are heavy and although I couldnt find the weight of the Motherships they were advertised as particularly light. Nothing bothers me more than a heavier ski, which I know is personal but again this is just my recommendation. Motherships have a good blend of the width and lightweightedness (?) as well.

haven't skied the motherships. I did get a short time on the ehp's though. The day I tried out the EHP's I was on my goliaths (weird huh?) and I swapped for a couple runs with my buddy. The ehp's felt more stable and almost kinda planky to me compared to the movements. They definately can charge harder due to their weight and stiffness. My first run on them was in CBC trees, we went hauling balls through the woods and they were for sure more work than my skis but once you got used to them you could flick them around. It just takes a lot of input. I don't know what the lines weight but the ehp isn't exactly a light ski. If you're touring on them that'd definately be a consideration. They also don't hold up super well compared to other skis day in day out. They're no squad but they do seem to fall apart sooner than you'd expect.

thats true, but the im going to have a 2 ski quiver, im getting a pair of 09 ninthwards Rorys for free from warrenty due to some delam issues last year, so ill have a ski that will be shorter and really good in the trees, but with the small radius with the motherships, would they be the best choice for my charging ski? im sure they would be good, but how much worse than the ehp do you think they would be for just charging down chutes and straight lining?

Considered the 186 EHP? At your weight they should float you with ease, they are a lot easier to throw around than the 193´s (At least the 07 version of the 193´s...) but have enough stiffness and so little sidecut they can haul really well to. There are a lot of reviews for them here as well.

dude the ehp 193 ROCKS!! never skied the mothership, but i love my ehp's, me 155 lbs, 5'9", racing background, it skis very short, and i have NEVER felt they were too big for me, even in Utah's tightest trees! i felt comfortable on them the first day, and they aren't that heavy, espically with a look/rossi turntable, i like them so much i bought a second pair and tour on them all the time,

i skied motherships (w/ marker demos) with my line rep in march and i own ehp 186s w/ nx 21s. i don't have the official weight of either ski in front of me, but the mothership is a heavy, beefy, burly ski. i would def. say the mothership is the heavier of the 2 for sure. it really felt heavy. but i liked them A LOT. turned plenty quick and busted through everything. bomber ski. i will add a pair to my quiver, just not for touring. if you want to tour, go with the ehp 186.
this year's ehp will retail for $799. if you can get a pair for under $500, buy 2.Last edited by mtskier; 08-20-2008 at 07:52 PM.

based on your skiing style you should be looking at an even burlyer ski. I think the comis would work well for you, also the lp xxls. Look for a 30+ turn radius
