Ride Around Timpanogos (R.A.T.) Photo TR
The cool thing about this ride is, you guessed it, you get to ride around Timpanogos. I've been wanting to do this ride for a while now and am glad to have knocked it off. The only things that I've heard about it is that it's rough with lots of hike-a-bike and remote sections of singletrack. I found both of those things.
Here's the stats:
It's about a 33 mile loop with 6,000ft of vert. The first 10 miles climbs up the road and gains about 2,000 vert. Once on dirt it'is pretty much singletrack the rest of the way, consisting of a couple of portages that combined probably make up about 1500 vertical. I didn't really take any huge rests, only food, pics and headset adjustments but my car to car time was just under 8 hours.
On to the pics, I should say I was alone so only scenics and pics of the steed.
After climbing on the road for an hour this was the first section of singletrack:

Just about to the Alpine summit TH and the flowers started getting crazy:

After a bunch of climbing there is a super smooth, fast downhill for a few miles

more flowers, this was a bit of a theme throughout the day:

The northeast end of Timp looking rad:

Nothing but flowers:

The first of a few walks, loose, steep rocks

but it gets rolling again:

Starting to come around onto the west side, the first glimpse of Utah Lake

Then it turned into flower tunnel vision. Over-the-head flowers on both sides

this shot is eye level

Some more buffness:

Big Baldy is the peak in the distance. It marks the last climb of the day, the climb being 1000ft hike a bike.

some fuel for the last push

Hike-a-Bike POV

up on the pass ready for a nice technical 3500 descent back to the cooler

Sweet sustenance

and a shot of the whole mountain form a random Orem neighborhood

A damn fine outing, and I didn't see any other trail users for the last 5 hours of the ride.

Looks like a really fun ride. Which hurts more, your arms or legs.

Nice work....there is some great trail down that way. I never got that one in while I lived there; did do Brighton to Timp via Snake Creek and then 157 trail. 157 is sick!!!

Hope it dries out again after this weekend.
Beaterdit and I were just down in that area yesterday. Easily one of the most amazing riding areas in Utah. Especially this time of year.
