Hey Seattle mags: question about apartments

So... like lots of people in Seattle (and maybe everywhere else for that matter), my landlord has decided to raise the cost of rent. I live in a 3-bedroom house near Magnuson Park. Right now we're paying $1800/month, and my landlord wants to increase to $1950/month. He pays electricity and water.

My roomies and I are trying to decide whether or not we should stay. We're not in love with the place, but there's nothing wrong with it. The only major pain-in-the-ass is a "no pets" policy, so my two cats are currently living with a friend. Also, we wish we lived a little further south.

If we move, we want to be somewhere near the U or near the 520 entrance. Does anyone know what we should expect to pay in rent?

    Thanks in advance!

I've never been to Seattle and I can't answer any of your questions - I just wanted to state that "amyzilla" is probably the raddest user name I've ever seen! That's the most party hard name ever! It really pisses me off that I took "Jer" instead of Jerzilla!

I can't offer much help for apartments, but I'm renting my pretty nice house in Ballard (2bd/1bath) for 1400, and that doesn't include electricity or water (probably 100 bucks a month on top of that).

So, I guess if you're renting a nice house with three bedrooms that's not the most unheard of rental price. That's a pretty steep rent hike, though.

Check craigslist to see what else is out there... Central District, U-district, Madison Valley should bring you closer to 520 and close enough to the school. Even Greenlake wouldn't be too bad (and might be cheaper).

I knew an "Amyzilla" once. Also known, behind her back, as "Monkeygirl." She was certifiably bat-shit.
