    Coffee and Cigarettes

This is the new flic from Jim Jarmusch and I have to give it two thumbs up. The vignette with RZA, GZA, and Bill Murray is classic! I really liked the one with Iggy Pop and Tom Waits too: awkward silence at its finest. Great stuff.

Cool. I'll have to check this out.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and, from the little I've seen, it's a shame Tom Waits doesn't do more acting),

Check out "At Play in the Fields of the Lord" if you haven't seen it. Good movie. It's based on a book by Peter Matthiessen.

Yeah, saw that. Great flick if you don't mind a few slow moments (which I don't). Also saw Stranger than Paradise (a little tooo slow), Dead Man (can't remember if Waits had a small role in this), and Ghost Dog (another fine flick) at a mini-Jarmusch festival a few years back. Year of the Horse is also worth checking out (if you like Neil Young).

Sick and ashamed and happy (and first came across Jarmusch in Smoke (actually I think it was the "sequel", Blue in the Face) - his scene about cigarette holding postures was hilarious),

I forgot about Ghost Dog (that it was Jarmusch's that is), phenomenal movie. Good soundtrack too. RZA is alright in my book.

I knew I was forgetting one (actually, I was forgetting two, but Mystery Train may as well stay forgotten). Night on Earth was a hit/miss thing for me. A couple of the stories were genius, others not so much. Roberto was awesome and the Scandanavian installment was drunkenly poignant. Good stuff.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and not really a cinephile),

Finally got around to seeing this. If nothing else, it kept me interested. The pauses, the seeming meaninglessness of the encounters, the total randomness, had me feeling like a bit of a voyeur. Not really sure what to make of it all, but, like I said, it kept me interested so it can't have been bad.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and the Wright/Benigni scene set the stage nicely),
