TGR going corporate???
Investment firm BlackHawk Capital Management LLC has completed the purchase of entertainment and media company Teton Gravity Research, the firm said in a statement.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. TGR, founded in 1996 by four professional skiers, is a production company that produces films and television programming focused on high-energy sports such as skiing, snowboarding and surfing.
BlackHawk and TGR intend to build on the company's current film and media business while pursuing broader offerings, such as an apparel line and new media products, according to the statement.
BlackHawk has past experience in the sports-media business. BlackHawk Managing Partners Mac Lackey and Ross Saldarini built Internetsoccer.com, a soccer-focused online community and company that owned 40 Internet sites with 8 million unique visitors per month, the statement said.
Charlotte-based BlackHawk Capital invests in both the public market and private market. The firm has a number of current investments in the consumer retail and outdoor sector, including pants maker Mountain Khakis and children's clothes maker Mountain Sprouts.
