    Lush...enjoying it while it lasts.

    5.29.08
    Bonneville Shoreline Trail - Ogden
    46th st -> 29th st trailhead -> Beus Canyon

The melt is in full effect after a record snow year and when combined with a cool and very wet spring the high desert reveals a lush green wonderland. Regular rains have done wonders to delay the inevitable plunge into a dusty wasteland that the rock and sand are destined to return to. For now though, the riding right out the door is pretty much perfect. Riding solo means no action but the scenery seems worthy of a pictorial.

Looking south after climbing up to the old shoreline at 5300 ft.

Back from which I came, Ben Lomond towers over the valley.

    I cleaned this whimpy section

One of the many stream crossings as the trail snakes across the mouths of each canyon.

    Not bad for the desert

    Spring green

    Yawn...this was really a burden

    Some fun rocks

    Horrible riding surface...

Pics don't do this justice but this corner scares the hell out of me. That rock juts out to the point of barely being able to squeak by and the drop off is a good hundred feet over rocks and scrub.

Not as flat as it looks...

Our house is down there somewhere

A few more weeks and this will be scorched

Much more fun as a downhill section

    Sup?

Snowbasin is just the other side of the ridge

Dropping into Bues Canyon where the loam is sweet

Typical Beus...many sections (though not this) here are super tech and very steep. I kept the camera in the pack for the rest of the ride and just tried to keep it rubber side down. It's a rocking DH that hugs what is now a pretty raging stream. It really sucks as a climb.

Good pics, I feel like I know every inch of that trail. One correction though; it's Beus Canyon.

    Doh....I'll edit accordingly.

GT says were on for Sunday. That'd be good. If you're free tonight holla. Fred and Ned should be heading over to enjoy the freedom as the women hit up the "Sex in the City" premier.

If it can remotely be considered a climb it's not steep.

For me it's about 50/50 ride/hike but I'm a bad person so it might just be karma.

This one speaks to me. There is some nice trail in those photos and I've never ridden any of it. Ogden area BST has been added to my short list.

For what it's worth, this thread is more to my liking.
Don’t race. Leave that to the scorchers.

The ergons really tie that bar setup together.

Lush season is the goods. Make the most of it. Everything smells nice.

1994 almost got em back today. Major Ergon malfunction left me with a a right had grip / end combo that could be removed at will. Kinda nice if you're stripping down a bike, kinda lame trying to chase GT40, Criscam and Flykdog around Snowbasin. Those dudes are fast, well, at least on the way up.
