    Haole invades Sayulita

I didn't get pounded today, yay!!!!

Had probably my best day of surfing yet. My shoulder was fricking killing me from paddling so much the last few days and I almost said fuggit and cut my session short. Thank god I never do the reasonable thing. I ended up scoring 4 clean rides in a row and even managed to turn...just a little...on my last one.

Yesterday was sick though. I ventured over to the main lineup in the afternoon and decided to have a go at the larger waves here. Fuuuuuckkkk!!! Cut off a local on while gaping over to the lineup..."Fuck I'm gonna get pounded..." and then let the surf pound me instead. I scored one sweet ride though. My longest yet, and probably 2-3 times as big as anything I've ridden before or since. The surf gods would not let me enjoy it long though. The next two waves saw me dive the tip of the board and inhale gallons of water. Hell yes!!!

    More carnage to come...

    Kinda like this?

Good to hear you scored Arty! Did you pick up a board down there?

Nose diving is the most entertaining and ass-kicking wipeout, kinda like an endo . Either take off earlier, or angle the board so that you're kinda facing the shoulder....if the wave is steep and you're going straight down the face on a longboard then that's when you eat shit

I would assume that's what I looked like. My perspective was a bit different (Ohhhhhh shiiiiiiiitttttt!!!!!).

As for a board, I've just been renting for now. I don't know how much I'm gonna surf this summer.

Hey! I can turn now! Bring on Mavericks!!!!

Yesterday I went out amongst the ripples and learned how to turn my board without doing a face plant or a gainer onto my head. I even turned right and then left on my last ride. Also, I found out that "big" wave I rode the other day was over my head. The locals who had be watching me gape around and my instructor couldn't believe I caught it. I am a surf god, I tell you! Today I'm going to go conquer some bigger fare...or get pounded into oblivion.

What do you think I've been doing?

Oh and one of the girls I met here is from Oregon and her name is Katie. She boards at Baker all the time. Your name rang a bell.

I'd offer to bring back a bottle of Radness, but I think my bag is going to be full of booze. So you'll just have to get some in the fall. Or I may be nice and try to smuggle more than my limit across...

Now for my latest surf report...

Currently I'm nursing jelly fish stings from this morning. Pissing on myself didn't do shit. The white vinegar seems to be working though...except for the fact that I reek.

The waves are pretty small right now. Hopefully things pick up this afternoon or tomorrow before I leave. I didn't surf at all yesterday. I had one of the worst hangovers of my life. Friday night I remember sitting at the table and having the world spin. Somehow I managed to avoid spewing though. Big mistake, since I paid dearly for absorbing all that booze. Still though, this place is awesome. Great waves, tons of hotties, cheap booze, and great food. I'm gonna miss it.

katie huh??? geez, give me more details!!!

I'm still nursing that same bottle of radness. I think it might go down tonight, to dull the pain of the Flamers taking it up the bum.

Have fun down there! Def. say hi to those kids if they're around... Kalle is the new Mex. nat. surf champ so good for him. Last I heard my 20 year old is somewhere farther south, but Kaleigh is still around (working at the Chile Relleno place last I heard) as might be Dave Stratton, former bartender of the Savage Beagle in Whistlerland. If you see a Texan named Blaise, tell him to get in touch and thanks for the free room in Villa Amor!

Well, got skunked the last couple of days. Surfed yesterday morning as I mentioned. The water was devoid of people all day though due to a jellyfish infestation. Every 5-10 minutes someone would come screaming out of the water. Since no one got really hurt, it was hilarious for the most part. The waves died though too, so no surfing in the pm. Today was just plain flat. So my planned morning session turned into a phat breakfast and packing to leave.

What a trip! I met a bunch of really cool people, learned how to surf, and killed lots of brain cells.

Katie...let's see...tall, long brown hair, rocking body, super cute, very cool, she now surfs, and she boards...at Baker..."a lot."

If you do run into her this year, be sure to tell her I said hi. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye today since I ended up getting in a rush to leave. Oh and her friend Danielle from Jersey...droooool also... Best of all though, the two of them seem to be awesome peeps.

Sadly, I only caught up with Kaleigh. She's working with Doris now, who runs the jewelry counter at the entrance to Don Pedro's. She's also seeing Israel who gave me surf lessons. I let her know you said hi.

Are you headed down there again this year? I'm thinking of going back in November or December.

It was all part of my imagination...

Or there's merely the fact I forgot to take a camera. Doh!
