Raises interesting questions, but Moore is just countering for the liberal side. Instead of conservative government propaganda, we get his propaganda. Anyone can take some stupid thing Bush said or random video clips, take it totally out of context and then say "see look I told you."
I think its healthy to raise questions and I find some of the things he says interesting, but the fact that he tries so hard to put a slant on things discredits him in my eyes."Stoke your own fire or burn out like the rest"

i'd rather hear moore's slant on things than bush's.
as i've heard, he comes down on the democrats for caving in so easily as well. the use of the word "liberal" has become, well, rather liberal. i wouldn't say he's countering for the liberal side, unless that's what you'd consider all of his films doing.fine

Moore is a leader in the field of taking things out of context and saying "I told you so."
I don't know WTF is wrong with the guy... trying to remember abnormal psych from collge I'd have to guess Narcissist Personality Disorder.
Here is a great nonpolitical outline of Moore's techniques of fact twisting, taking things out of context, misleading edits, and outright lying: http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html
He is not a documentarian. He is a propogandist and a damned skilled one... not that I like the rightwing propogandists like that skank Coulter either.Originally Posted by blurred

I saw Bowling.
Here is a perfect example laying out exactly how Moore takes things completely and deliberately out of context to change their meaning to his liking: http://www.hardylaw.net/Bowlingtranscript.html

that's like watching the next Jenna Jameson flick and in hopes of a plot, then feeling bereft about her getting rodgered every which way but loose."The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money" --Margaret Thatcher

jayfrizzo: I don't think you would reach that conlcusion if you stopped so instantaneously. Unless, are you saying that Moore, in that sequence, was not trying to make the viewers think it was one continuous speech?
That's like saying that someone reading Ann Coulter's trip or watching Goebbles films should automatically just realize which parts are intentionally misleading and which are not, that they are "fine" pieces of "journalism".

This is a counterpoint to Moore showing his falsehoods. Do you have anything that shows it to be false or are you just telling yourself Moore can't be wrong because his critic put up the information on the web? Surely you can gather a stronger defense than that.Originally Posted by blurred

Not a bad comparison.... both are fatass arrogant blowhards who live to hear themselves talk and don't care what they have to misrepresent to get the attention... and you can't throw either in prison because they it would double the food costs for the facility. Lock Moore and Rush in a room with no food until one eats the other then dies from clogged arteries.Originally Posted by blurred

there's no real point in arguing with you, or anyone else on the board. you've proved yourself to be the kneejerk reaction of the right for the past year or so. congrats.fine

Heston's wearing different clothes in each part of the cut. And the way the speech is cut, it still contains it's intended meaning: That the NRA is in Denver, so they're still gonna come have their convention.
I'm not impressed by some story some dude put up on his own webpage. Especially when it's slanted and long and boring. At least Moore's slants are entertaining and deft.
Edit: Oh yeah.

Moore doesn't say anything directly, he leaves you to infer, with a slant to his own agenda. But the dumbass who wrote that and posted it to his homepage says they're false statements. He can say it's misleading, but he doesn't. He says "Statemnts are made which are false." You need to make a statement before it can be a lie.
And what the hell is a "falsehood"? Quit using big words.

Moore brings up some very interesting points that need to be addressed unfortunately the timing of the release of the film (election year ) and his obvious distaste for this administration makes it difficult to believe this is anything more than political propoganda. Roger and Me is by far his best movie, Bowling was good but again I think he let his agenda creep in to the film way too much. I don't expect much else from farenheit 9/11 but I look forward to seeing it to hear what he has too say.

Nominating Moore for an Acadamy Award for Best Documentary does a tremendous dis-service to the field. Giving him the Oscar is an outright slap in the face to documentarians. Go see Fog Of War or any other Errol Morris film to see what a real political documentary is.
I've never found myself in agreement with SC1776... however he is correct with regards to Michael Moore. Moore is a propagandist and a talented film-maker. He is not a documentarian and his films should not be taken as fact anymore than The Passion of Christ is taken as fact. That's not to say his films aren't funny and without merit. I didn't have a problem with Moore until he won the Oscar.

You can hardly blame the guy for winning. It's not like he was the only person voting.
