    Web hosting insanity

I decided to try to find a host so I can put up a video or something now and then and started reading reviews on web hosting companies. This sucks, every hosting company looks good on paper, then when you dig deep enough there are 5000 disgruntled customers raving mad at every one of them. How does one go about finding the truth? Anyone around here have a host they recommend?

The other thing I'd like and haven't really looked too hard for yet is something like a gallery but for videos. Any ideas on that?

    Thanks in advance.

I think flickr just started to host video, but I have no idea what the prices or quality are. Also no idea on reviews, good luck with the search.

Edit: Just remembered SmugMug too, but it's $60/yr for video and even more for Hi-Def video. Depending on your use, it may not be worth it.

Photobucket now does video as well, but I've never uploaded any. I'm happy w/them overall.

Oh, they recently upped their Maximum pic size from 800x600 to 1024x768, or if you have a good compression program they'll host any image that's under 1MB. Not bad for its intended use - posting shit on forums like these.

Got my site hosted by GoDaddy and they suck for video. Downloads take forever and streaming is impossible with any files above 150mb.

I love Bluehost... Fast, super reliable, good customer service and 1.5 terabytes!! for $7 a month. I use it as a host and as a network backup for my photo catalogs.

    I use dreamhost.

It goes down once in a while but I live.

Keep in mind that people hosting their own stuff already have an overblown sense of self worth........and hence are more likely to become raging asshole morons when they feel the world can't get to their awesomeness

I ended up going with Dreamhost, I had used them a long time ago and never had an issue. Now I just need to create my own awesomeness to go with it!

    Thanks for the inputs.
