same old same old in Kashmir, except Gulmarg no longer has a spotless record.

    Gulmarg blast:
A tourist and a civilian were killed and four others were injured in a grenade blast in the famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Varmul district.
Altaf Baba reports from Varmul: Unidentified persons hurled a grenade near the Gulmarg Sumo stand at 5 pm killing a tourist, Ashok Kumar son of Ram Shanker of UP on the spot and critically injuring four persons. A boy identified as Muhammad Yousuf son of Jalaluddin of Baba Reshi succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
Other injured were identified as Joginder Swami of UP, Bashir Ahmad son of Muhammad Sadiq of Sopur, Parvaiz Ahmad son of Muhammad Maqbool of Chandusa Tangmarg and Tahir Ahmad son of Muhammad Khalil of Sopur.
Nobody had claimed responsibility for the attack till this report was filed.

I will be taking the long way around the golf course next winter on the way to Bakshi's, bypassing the bus depot altogether. Anyone have a flak jacket for sale?

    PS: This from Billa
"I am fine,we had grenade attack here, one indian tourist die,but every thing is ok, it is only due to coming assembly elections,we have this time Governor rule,in coming october we have elections here, and the politician are going to fuck poor people"

    PPS: This from Peter Robinson
"The bad news is for Majid – one of our skiers. Bashir told me yesterday the boy killed in the blast was Majid’s ‘cousin’s sister’s son’."

    I am bumping stoke tonight.

The best part in the video are the two Austrians with their heavy Tyrolean accents talking in the background.

"Lothar, wo foarscht du?" Do you know who they were by any chance?

I have to go there. I have been drooling over this tr for hours...no joke.

So jealous i can't even describe. And I saw a lib tech snow mullet in that pic of all the ski's at the mid-station. Me and my mullet will be there sometime in my life. I have to. The closest place i have ever visited that could even slightly resemble the atmosphere there is ukraine. Which really isn't close. Probably only resembles gulmarg because there is trash everywhere in ukraine and the majority of people there are poor. And no I was not in kiev, i was in Bucha, Ukraine. Ahhhh memories...

But yeah must go here before I die for sure. Thanks for the amazing tr

i worked for Sgt. Ted's snow science bootcamp, Ahem..Alaska Rendezvous Guides in AK over the years. i brought some extra gear to Gulmarg that i could give away. i local friend, Shabile, did some guiding. so i was STOKED to give him my old guide jacket!

here's a couple shots of Shabile and my buddy Johnny V...

in thanks, he had his bro sew-up a couple of Ferrin's for me and Johnny. that's the Ferrin John's wearing in the photo...i also gave a ski patrol vest to the patrol leader...what was his name?? i hope he's enjoying it! Brian and James were a great help to the Patrol. skied some awesome lines with Brian...hope to be back there again!!!

Wow, that is just awesome. If I could go anywhere in the world for a season, I think now that I would like to go there, all things considered.

    See you there

Bring plenty of quality lighters & wraps for your friends (I know it's not your scene), and pick up some glass in Delhi for Raja, as he wants to offer some "in-demand" retail items this winter. This shop (across from the Anoop Hotel) has a HUGE selection:

Does that flight go east or west? Either way it must be about 21 hours in the air - Utterly Fucking Grueling. Good luck!
