    1) Rossignol 180 Pro Bindings

    DIN: 8-18

Condition: These bindings are in good condition. They were on a pair of race sticks so they didn't get much use. They have the Geze style toe and a turntable heel.

    Price: $125

    2) Salomon s900s

    DIN: 9-16

Condition: Good, everything is intact and perfectly functional. These bindings are the same thing as the much vaunted 916s.

Get a relatively lightweight and high DIN binding.

A better version of a vertical release toe. It is close to the FKS 120 toe, but a little older. And better.

    That is my $.02

Perhaps comparing the Rossi Pro to the Salomon 916 (its most natural competitor) will stir some interest.

    Rossi Pro
    Pros
    -Lighter
    -No toe adjustment
    -Torsional rigidity
    Cons
    -Less fore/aft adjustment
    -Bending brakes
    Draw
    -Release characterisitcs
    -Durability

The weight savings makes me favor the Rossi. As my skis have gotten wider their weights have correspondingly gone up. A lighter weight bindings makes them hike and ski better.

FYI, S916's, AND P18's both have a vertical release toe. AND they work, if you torque hard enough in that direction. As in, very hard. These are the same deal. I have 5 pairs of them (180 Pros), and have never come out in the vertical direction when set to a 13 din. I think you need to do a pretty hard backseat landing off a good sized cliff to make it happen (per Mr. Z).

Overall, I've compared these to ZR18's and P18's, and the Geze toe is very noticably stiffer. The P18 toe will move upward slightly as you edge the ski, because it has a close to linear spring rate in the that direction. With the Geze toe, due to the design, the wings are on a cam. They won't move much at all until a large force is encountered. Then they go into elastic travel. I'd say they have sightly less elastic travel than P18's or Salomons, but it's nothing like markers (on/off). I've never come out due to shock loading, only large sustained force. Due to all this, they tend to have the most positive, direct feeling of any binding, with nearly zero play or slop. When I ski my S916's at high speed on rougher snow, even at a 14 din I can feel the boot start to float around in the toe peice, which can be a bit scary....

I run these on all my powder skis and normal freesking skis. S916's on large speed oriented (mid-fat) skis, and zr18's on park/rock/bump skis.
