^This is the Navy's attempt at disinformation to save face and pretend they didn't really have a bunch people too dumb to notice an officer can't use an optic and everybody next to him didn't notice either.

According to a dude I know who does media production for tactical manufacturers, military videos, cinema, etc, it was photoshopped. But still incredibly embarrassing.

I just read your post and looked up the difference. Turns out mine is a takedown model as well. The engineering and machining on the takedown model 94s and model 12 shotguns is really impressive. Amazing to think that every part of these pre 64 guns was machined by true craftsmen. 100+ years later and the guns perform flawlessly.

I've only deer hunted a couple of times and never took a shot, but carrying the old model 94 in the woods somehow felt "right".

Showing up to shoot sporting clays or skeet with an old oft carried field grade model 12 always got the old timers' attention. If you shoot it well, it gets lots of attention form the German and Italian O/U crowd as well as the strange to me $3000 fancy semi-auto crowd.

Have fun shooting that rifle. It is a fun gun to shoot.

This. My first shotgun was a retired police Model 12 with fixed choke. My mom bought it for me from a used gun shop...awfully large shotgun for a 12 year old but hey, I still have it and I learned to hunt with that pig. They're truly great guns.
