TR: Good things come to those who wait...(aka "Again")
We'd watched the weather and read the TR's and knew the Teton's were going off. We'd been there in November eying all sorts of candy that was just out of reach with the early season snowpack. Time was running out and we knew what had to be done. We carved out a 4 day window from reality and booked rooms. Saturday afternoon we loaded up and moved out. We arrived to the most stunning late afternoon light with the Grand in full glory over a frosted Targhee. Jackpot.
Sunday morning broke greybird with light snow and fucking cold temps. The crew was chomping at the bit to get after it but the light flat out sucked. The snow however was good. Really good. We made the most of the flat light and did some poking around so we'd be ready when the sun showed up.
MD9 racking up frequent flyer miles on Greybird Airlines...
With another take off and landing he got a free First Class upgrade...
After the lifts closed we hitched a ride to this secret pillow stash we'd seen from afar earlier in the day. We got some really crappy pics and a long hike out.

JakeCast seconds from a 10 minute search for a ski...
MD9 Obsething over his tempur-pedic headrests...
That evening we learned that the Trap Bar serves stiff drinks. That's a good thing. We hoped it would bring blue skies but instead it brought the deepest 6" ever. Under a thick milkbird sky we lapped pow. Again and again and again. Something like 12 laps before a 1:30 lunch. It was fun. A few sucker holes were enough to grab the gear and head up the Nipple. We managed to find a tiny slice of light and in a blur of chaos dropped off the backside to tee up one hit.
MD9 has a thing for plushies...
As quickly as it came the light left. We suffered through some of the worst snow ever on the way back to the village...
JakeCast hating it...
MD9 getting all HellBent over the conditions...
MOE pointing out just how bad this trip was...
The gods continued to torment us with glimpses of a sun we knew was out there somewhere. Tiny slices of light beckoned us up the bootpack one more time before calling it a day. Once again the clouds shifted leaving us in the mank but we waited and waited for one last glimpse...and we got it.
MD9 fighting the shadows...
Thoroughly trashed from an epic day of slaying pow and chasing elusive light we debated bailing for Jackson. After much discussion and some god damn awesome buffalo burgers we opted to stay put. We had scoped out our projects and knew that if we got the sun we'd get shit done. Tuesday morning things looked good. The sky was 50/50 with two layers of broken clouds moving at two very different speeds. We were now well versed in the waiting game though and we were playing to win.
Jake and MD9 hanging out in the secret surf spot trying to call in the sun...
MD9 decides to test the waters...
The light got better and MD9 went bigger...
What follows is the result of hanging out on a windy ridge in subzero windchills for hours and hours.
APRIL FOOLS!!!!!11!
MD9 hits the jackpot!
Then decides I need to shoot him from atop the perch he just fell off of. It was an interesting place to change a lens but I'll do anything for glimps of nipple.
JakeCast forced me to swap glass from atop that perch again just so he could rip this groomer...
MD9 likes the wide angle lens...
JakeCast getting an April shower...
Completely spent, we gaped our way back to the truck, stopping only to make a complete mess of a nice windlip hit.
Jake went small...
MOE got pwnt...
and MD9 got twisted...
There's helmet cam and some vid out there that I'm sure will show up here soon. It was a damn fine trip and a very sweet start to April.

Damn guys. Just...
Damn.....Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

MD9 likes the wide angle lens...
This bears repeating"The idea wasnt for me, that I would be the only one that would ever do this. My idea was that everybody should be doing this. At the time nobody was, but this was something thats too much fun to pass up." -Briggs

Nice shots. All the pics with sun exposed correctly to me. If anything some of them are a little bright on my monitor.. ie some highlights are blownout.
My favorite is the one titled "MD9 fighting the shadows..."
The snow in the middle left of the pic is way blownout on my monitor, but the trees and shadows look good.
