This thread is useless without pics.

ND gets the record, IMO. But, hey what do I know I'm a snowboarder!
On a related matter: Vesna Vulović (Serbian: Весна Вуловић) (born 3 January 1950) holds the Guinness Book of Records world record for surviving the highest fall without a parachute: 10,160 meters (33,316 feet). Pretty sure this chick did not set out to break this record when she went to work that day, but it is still A WORLD RECORD!

Googling leads to this video of Fred being carried over a 10-meter drop by an avalanche. It'll have to do until the real thing emerges.
And another with helmetcam of Fred jumping off stuff in Chamonix.
I'd vote for this as being a new world record. Arguing about intent is lame; kind of like the "intentional foul" rule in basketball, the refs should just judge what happened, not what the guy meant to happen.Last edited by jrbd; 03-22-2008 at 07:09 PM.
Change is good. You go first.

I completely agree, intent means shit. ND d00d skied off a 100m cliff and survived (with apparently a fuck of a lot more steeze than JP - not that it really matters); that's a worlds' record regardless of intent.
I'm pretty sure several of the Guinness records were set without intent..

That helmetcam footage is SICK! He's not skiing slow, and hucking some pretty decent sized stuff onto some unsoft snow. Doesn't even seem to compress on landing. I'm pretty sure the guy is a ski robot, the doctors should check for a chrome exoskeleton.

If it wasn't done on purpose he SHOULD NOT claim anything except that he is a lucky MF.
