basically what it says is that the dude fred syversen missed his line when filmin and flew off a 100meter (330 foot) cliff at a speed of 80km/h!!!!
It also says that he was burried under 2.5 meters of snow, but he was fine

Fred is nuttier than squirrel shit so i wouldn't put it past him to be charging in an area where there is a 100m cliff a hair off of his line. who knows though, pics and vid would be nice.

They got the takeoff and part of the trip down on film.
And I heard they took plenty of photos of the cliff and bombhole.

Translated the article reads:

During filming in the Alps Fred Syvertsen (42) missed his line and skied off an over 100 meter high cliff at high speed. Unbelievably so, it appears to have a happy ending.

During filming in the alps with Thierry Donard og Nuit de la Glisse the Norwegian freeskier veteran Fred Roar Syvertsen (42) missed his planned line. At a speed estimated to have been over 80 km/hr, Fred skied straight off an over 100 meter high cliff. According to sources, the others in the team found Syvertsen after a while buried more than 2.5 meters in the snow, and uncovered him in time if unconfirmed reports are true.

Since Fred missed so much on his line, the camera crews were not prepared that it would happen. Nobody knows for sure if this non-planned jump has been captured on film at least complete, but it is rumored that at least the takeoff was captured. The helicopter pilot has measured the cliff height to approximately 320 feet.

After Syvertsen was dug out he skied on his own down to the helicopter and then he was flown to the hospital. As of now, Fred is under observation at the hospital, but so far the doctors have not found anything wrong on this roughneck. The forever young Syvertsen must have had a large crew of guardian angels looking over him during this Easter week and at the same time he may get the right to claim the world record ski cliff jump – without a parachute or permanent injuries.

That's the guy who went HUGE at the Mammoth Quest comp. He's a ripper....and lucky.

I think skiers will eventually hit terminal velocity and there will be no limit to the height that could be hucked (pending proper conditions and extraction crew, lots of people nearby with shovels.) I've always thought that if for some reason I were falling from the sky (say thrown out of a plane) and I had no parachute I would aim my body for a steep mountainside and hope for the best.

2.5 meters is approximately 7.5 feet of snow.

I have trouble believing that someone wound up UNDER that much snow and was still "okay".

Thats pretty interesting...at 9.8m/s, does it really matter if you fell 300 feet or 3000 ft?

9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration due to gravity, not terminal velocity

terminal velocity depends on surface area, elevation, wind, your density, and a lot of stuff

but yeah it makes a difference
