Deputy May Have 'Dosed' Off Before Crashing Into Cyclists

This was really heart-wrenching. I'm sure many of you have heard about it but I didn't see it posted anywhere. My friend knew Kristy.

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Two bicyclists were killed and another suffered major injuries in a crash in Cupertino Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.....

that's so sad. thoughts to the families and loved ones.

sounds like he just crossed over the median and barreled right into them- wow. it's scary enough to be out there on a bike and dealing with anticipated traffic on your side of the road- let alone all these rouge ones that come out of nowhere.

Absolutely tragic. The officer is going to have some long hard days ahead of him even if charges aren't filed, I can't imagine having to live with that kind of guilt.

This is my region, and it scares the crap out of me. It's also (as irrational or not as it may be) the reason I prefer mountain biking over road riding.

I was blown away to read that there are an average of 20 cyclist killed each year in the Bay Area alone. That's too high for me to feel comfortable with.

    Scary, and soo, so sad.
