GIMP
Not exactly photo/vid but I have to give a huge thumbs up for GIMP. Gnu Image Maipulation Program. Fully free and open source, As good or better than photoshop, cool free brushes/tools/effects/scripts etc to add on.
I found this a could weeks ago researching for a project I'm involved in.
Any graphics type geeks should definitly check this thing out http://www.gimp.org/
oh and if any of you kow hoe to get the most out of this thing I'g love some help now and again. Being a non-graphic artsy type I'm stuggling a bit with some of the stuff.

Welcome to 2004
Definitely photo/vid, it's got very nice photo-editing software. It is definitely a very good open-source program at a very attractive price, but it's not as good or better than PS.
