Have a Killer Fuckin Trip 2Planker

He's off to Russia tomorrow. Something about counseling Putin to see if he can get that shit-eating grin off Vladimir's face from watching CNN.

    Thanks dude!

Actually, I'm heading to Vienna, Austria for a few days. Then to Prague and Zlin in the Czech Republic by train. Then back to Vienna by train to catch an 11 hour flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan (formerly part of Russia). All-together a 3 week trip.

I plan to post here when I can. The apartment I am renting in Prague is right next door to this:

I shit you not - it's called the Powder Tower! You can actually see my apartment in the lower left hand corner of the picture, right in front of that guy's face.

Check out this picture of Almaty, Kazakhstan. Those are the Tian Shan mountains, right on the China border. The tallest building in the picture is the hotel where I will be staying.

Wish me luck, and stay tuned for reports!

Don't forget to tuck a copy of your passport in your shoe in Almaty.

    Hello from Vienna!

This city is amazing - so much history and so much to see. I just got back from a nice little jazz club. These guys know their beer! Tomorrow I'm off to tour the city on foot.

The keyboard on this computer is weird. Some of the keys are in different places, which makes typing tough.

    I'll check in later. Seeya!

No, not a ski trip. I'm working (eventually!)

The keyboards here are weird. Some of the keys are in different places...

Still here in Vienna. I've seen so many palaces today that my head is spinning. The Austrians have no shame when it comes to opulence. Monuments and statues everywhere, everything is gold plated and marble. I love it!

The Natural History museum at the Habsburg palace is phenomenal. I saw giraffes, 2 komodo dragons, and miles and miles of gemstones, gold, jewels and art.

I just drank a pint or two at a great pub called 1516. The beer here is wonderful. I tinkn its time to go back and have snother. I#m miles away from mx zotel, so the walk back should be fun.

Canät wait to show you all my pictures. Aufweidesain! (however that is sopelled)

Oh, I forgot. I alomst got locked in the catacombs under the palace because I took some pictures, which is a big nono. The giude seemed pretty pissed and said something which >I think was swaering in Germy and he threatened to leave me down there. There were thoudsands and thousands of bones piled into little chambers from the black plague and dead cardinals. The most recnt one was interred 2 months ago! Totally fucking crepy. But I got a few pics anyway. hehe

Getting into trouble already?? Sounds like you are having a good time. Drink a few pints for me. If you see some unique pubs, snap a few pics too. I would love to see what they look like.

I just got back from Park City for our resellers conference and apparently your son has taken quite liking to being up here with our girls. He climbs up on Erica and then turns her head to look at HIM, he wants her attention. Funny. I can't wait to see that. He is getting very comfortable up here and Erica is really helping out. Now that I am back I will be too. I will try to teach your son to bring me a beer(s)

Pm me with the time diff. for that site you told me about on your page. Would love to talk if possible.

Have fun, be careful, and don't get locked in a dungeon!!!

If you can possibly get a bottle of your favorite beer you drank there and bring it back, I would be a happy man. Just think of it as your personal contibution to my beer bottle collection. If you can.

    Later man.

i should rephrase. don't smoke their opium in frustration after discovering that absinthe does not actually make you halluncinate. it may be fine otherwise...

    Hello again!

I rode a train from Vienna into the Czech Republic today. The countryside was beautiful. I'm staying in a swanky apartment in Prague, a stone's throw from the Powder Tower.

Prague is absolutely amazing. Castles, spires, towers, cobblestones, arches, graceful bridges. It's all just too much. My feet and legs are killing me - I've probably walked 20 miles since I got to Europe. These cobblestones are not as soft as the trails I am used to walking.

I've taken about 400 pictures so far! I have all the equipment I need to put them on a PC, but the PCs I have access to do not allow me to connect my camera, so you'll have to wait for the pictures.

This apartment has a computer and Internet connection, so I should be able to post a bit more regularly while I am here.

Buzz, don't worry I'll get you some of the local beer - Budweiser Budvar. No, this is not the American beer, but the original. I'll bring you back some!

    Cheers!

Enjoy Prague! Easily one of the coolest cities in Europe.

For cheap entertainment, ask locals how many spires there are in the city.

Trains, planes, autos, trams, cabs, buses, and metros.

I'm back in Vienna, after training from Zlin, Czech Republic. Zlin was interesting, with it's primary export being Bata shoes. The town has a very severe, Soviet, industrial feel. The people like to drink, smoke, and party and are very proud of their shoe factory. Rolling hills and castles in the countryside stand in stark contrast to the no nonsense downtown area.

I was hastily changing clothes in a filthy train station bathroom somewhere in nowhere Czech, when the door bursts open and some scrubby dude starts yelling at me in Czech. With my pants around my ankles, I babbled something in English and just hoped I wasn't about to be robbed. He just kept yelling at me and then finally left the bathroom. I closed the door, which pissed him off even more because he slammed it back open and yelled at me some more. I got changed and left in a hurry. Later I realized that he was the bathroom attendant that sells toilet paper and takes your money for the shitter. I was in a rush and didn't realize there was a charge for it, so I totally missed his little booth outside the bathroom. Taking a piss or a shit there costs 2 Krowns, or 4 Krowns with paper (less than 1 cent US). Ah well, you live and you learn. The trains were mostly crowded, hot, and uncomfortable, but perfectly ok. The biggest problem was our luggage, which was often too big too stow in the alotted spaces and got in the way of other passengers. Getting our bags on and off the train before it took off again was sometimes a challenge (I'm travelling with two women and have had to toss their bags around some)

I'm staying at a kickass hotel here in Vienna tonight. It has a fullsize bed, real pillows, and a shower. So far, my hotels in the Zlin and the other hotel I stayed at in Vienna have been clean and respectable, but very small, couch cushions for beds, and tubs with hoses in place of proper showers. The water I bathed in at my hotel in Zlin was brown. It's all good though, it's been very interesting and exciting, seeing how things are done on this side of the world. Basically, I love it!

I'm looking forward to a long hot, fresh shower tonight. The Viennese know their stuff: chocolates on the pillows, cable TV, lotions and soals, the whole deal.

Tomorrow I take the long flight to Kazakhstan. What awaits me there, I do not really know. Should be interesting. I'll post again if I can.

    See ya!

Ha! Those Eastern European bathroom attendants can get rowdy. I had a woman follow me into a stall once when I missed her at the entryway. She took my coat as collateral while I was sitting on the shitter. They're real nice when you pay, an absolute nightmare when you don't. 2P - shoot me an email. Need to talk.....
