Ever have this happen? (ebay content)

So I am selling this Tom Tom Go 720 on ebay. NIB. I got a notification like 20 days ago that someone offered a price on a buy it now and wanted to buy. I was awaiting payment from this guy for 2 weeks. Sent him all kinds of email and notifications and shit. He finally got back to me stating he never bid or offered on my item, and that ebay fucked up.

Does this actually happen? Or is the guy trying to avoid getting his rating fucked over cause he fucked up?

Or someone got the buyers ebay password and executed the buy-it-now intending to send paypal payment from the buyers account too (with a changed address), but maybe couldn't get control of his paypal account or otherwise dropped the scam - I got burned like that one time.

you can always set it up to require payment from the buyer immediately. i think that would rectify this problem in the future.

    Feedback

Does he have a feedback score? If so, what is it? I use ebay a lot and don't trust peeps with no score...

Sounds like he got cold feet. File a Non-Paying Bidder and relist it. That way you get your fees back.

    That's what I would do.
If, in fact, someone takes control of the buyer's account they shut down the buyer's account and refund your fees (happened to me 3 weeks ago as a seller). Of course, the buyer typically has to TELL eBay that something is wrong. It doesn't seem like this guy is very worried about this, so call his bluff. File a non-paying bidder with eBay, then it's on him to prove that he didn't do the bidding.
