Thread: Line Prophet 130 or Volkl Sumo?

I'm looking to buy a super fat pretty soon, and I was trying to decide between a pair of 175 Volkl Sumos or a pair of LP 130's. I ski Alta/Snowbird, so I'm typically skiing pretty deep snow. I'm 5'10" and weigh 175. I ski aggresively. Just wondering what people think about each ski.

well... since you are only 175 pounds I would not suggest the sumo's, those are 4 large sumo wrestlers only.
I see U are in Utah, that would make the Prophet an obvious choice

I bought the 130's to be my big day ski. I have other sticks for normal days. It's been puking so much in Utah that my 130's have become my everyday ski. These skis are super fun and easy to ride.

Use the search function and read up on what people have said about both skis. This will help you better understand how the two skis ride.

i have a buddy (5'7" 140 lbs at most) who rocks the sumo's at Vail on a regualr basis. He's not your typical aggressive skier though.

i'm skiing the 190 sumos as my pow ski right now.i'm 6'2" and 180lbs, 33 yrs and chargin hard for not being in my twenties anymore.
absolutely no probs powering them ,not nearly as large and intimidating as i first thought. the tips are soft(enough) to hammer on relentlessly and not get bucked. but the tails are there when you need them. i will ski them everyday there's 10-14"+ unless i'm in really really tight trees. b/c when going slow they are a chore and i prefer the goats.
i think of them as a super sized gotama for when there is; A) more than 2+ feet or B) more than 10" and you wanna be surfing(eg skiing on top, fastlike). the perform excellent in the crud too. they fuckin rip for a traditional fatty.

I'm 6'1" 170 and used to have 190 Sumos. They're super fun and I definitely wouldn't have gone with the 175s.

However, I sold them to get 190 Lotus 120s. I would recommend sacking up for DPSs. Night and day better than the Sumos.
