jackson hole and collecting unemployment
this winter.
end of march?
oh yeah....it's gonna happen.
also trying to square away a week in utah.
all this and much, much more if my grand scheme to get 'let go' goes through -- which brings me to:
what do the conditions of my 'release' need to be to collect funemployment? (generally speaking)

Good luck in your endeavor. I'm working it right now.
Conditions? You have to be laid off, not fired. That means you basically lost your job through no fault of your own. I got a letter from my employer to that effect.Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.

Go
Actually, you can be fired and still collect. Te company that fires you however has to be willing to sign off on you collecting, nearly always happens where I work. So hopefully I can start clockin in late and calling off and they will can my ass by early december so I can spent the winter as a "Pro-Skier".
My plan has a mongo hole in it though. The guy who does the firing really likes me and I believe he would give me a ridiculous number of chances to redeem myself.
Good luck to youse guyses.

I was hoping to ride the unemployment train this winter but it does'nt look like it's gonna work. I may be able to get by on a part time gig until spring though.

hmm...
intwesting.
gonna have to talk to some people i know who got canned by my employer....
i'm kinda in hardrider's boat, though. my boss really, really likes me, i have an utterly spotless record, and i'd be really hard to replace. i couldn't do something halfway, i'd have to really sabatoge myself.
maybe this won't work out.
what about collecting unemployment while going to school? would taking a full class load disqualify you?

SheRa's right on this, you've gotta be "let go" which comes in forms of an elimination of your position, cutbacks, downsizing, etc. If you're fired, the employer has 'reason' for their actions. When/If you file for unemployment benefits the employer is asked the nature and circumstance of your being let go, so .... the spirit of unemployment benefits is compromised if otherwise.
As for taking a full load of classes, check with your state's unemployment department statutes. In general, the typical requirements to receive benefits: 1) out of work due to no fault of their own, 2) physically able to work, 3) actively seeking work, and 4) ready to accept work. Key takeaway, you gotta be eligible to accept a f-t position if one comes your way. States MAY check up on your applications as a form of audit, so documentation of your efforts is important. Otherwise, they'll take back all of the past benefits including penaltys and interest. If you're taking a full load of courses you are technically no longer an eligible person in the workforce and you'd be s-o-l.
I'm sure there are others who have been there, or done that... hmmm Jackson for the winter, eh?
