Mount Baker route closed
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF
State Route 542, the Mount Baker Highway, closed for the winter yesterday at the Terminal Lake parking lot above the Mount Baker Ski Lodge. As a result, Austin Pass, the Heather Meadows Visitor Center and Artist Point will not be accessible by car until the section of highway opens next summer.
This year the highway opened July 15. A temporary closure started Wednesday after the first significant snowfall of the season. Heavy snowfall followed, and the state Department of Transportation and the U.S. Forest Service decided to close the road for the winter.

Do you really think that all the WA skiers (and i'm talking skiers, not people who ski. Skiers. there is a distinction) hadn't heard about this already? I like the jinx protection, but still... careful.
