Rocker on, rocker off by rossignol
I saw this posted in Newschoolers. Looks like rossi are going to make a bandit that can be switched in and out of rocker. http://www.skiforum.it/forum/showthr...404#post376404

Yes, the idea is cool but the implementation looks ridiculous.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! they stole my ideeaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
seriously... been talking about doing that for a year... oh well I snooze I lose
And I think it is a good idea that will work.
The S7 is a EHP186 knockoff with more sidecut...
Solly Czar.... damned near straight 108mm with 60cm of rocker...
Also notice the "Barron" ... a DIN 12 Duke...
*EVERYONE* who works at the resort will be rocking BARRONs and EVERY second home owning lawyer will have rockered skis next yearLast edited by Summit; 01-31-2008 at 06:58 AM.

I think we should wait and see. I know the idea has been in the works with rossi for quite some time (2+ years)
Is it ugly to have a wire on your ski? That's a subjective bit for you to decide (I think so)
Will it work and be durable? I bet so.
Will it be as amazing as skiing a dedicated rockered ski? No-the shape is still conventional, but I'm a big proponent of full-on funshape stuff.

it would require some serious contortions to get a tip stuck under that wire.. my only concern would be if you crash and smash the plastic flip thing with your other ski. they must have gotten some great feedback from their athletes to scrap the entire bsquad line for this thing. i'd like to try them

These are up on Rossi's site now, anyone here had a chance to play with them on the shelf?

There gets to be a point when technology needs to simmer down. This is one of those times.

why?
this is a great idea
and what at first glance, looks like an excellent execution on the concept.
sorry i didnt have the means to incorporate this when lb, myself, and summit were talking about this a couple seasons ago before rossi ever published this concept

Dood, you certainly know more than me. I'm just skeptical...especially when it comes from Rossi. To me, they missed the boat on the fat ski thing. I used to be a fan, but, to me, their last great ski was the grey and white Bandit XXX. Gadgets on skis...power switch, snap-on interchangeable rods, dual rocker...meh.
Give me some metal and wood, and I'm good to go.

This could be an incredible way to make a ski versatile IF THEY IMPLEMENT IT WELL.
Implementation will determine whether this is a breakthrough way to make two skis from one or whether its a Markeresque marketing gimmick.Originally Posted by blurred

Looks like we won't see the DC for a while in the NA market considering the SC Phantoms have already been released and they are designated as DC Bandits on that site.
I have heard rumor that the they ski great and the DCs ski far better then Squads with more versatility.
I am concerned with pre bending the fore body of a ski via cable with lots of metal in it. Makes me wonder after time if they will return to true/regular camber.
