I took my gf skiing for the first time this month. She has a shy personality, never likes to be the center of attention, and is nervous as hell because we're with a group of friends and she's the only never-ever. So we fight the crowd of weekend warrior JONGS to get rentals, spend another eternity getting suited up, and when it's finally time for her to click in for the first time she looks at me dead serious and asks the stupid question "Is there a left and a right?"

That one hurt, but she did really great for her first time out there and caught the bug. We're going skiing again soon-hoping to check "BJ in the gondola" off my bucket list.

You're aware that there's such a thing as asymmetric skis, right? I doubt that's what she was on, but it's not that unreasonable a question for a newbie. Some bindings even have left/right indicators, presumably for asymm skis, or just so you tell the skis apart if you want to alternate inside/outside edges. Cut her some slack.
I'm sure she'd be flattered by the BJ in the gondola comment.
