boots that fit like the tecnica Icon?

My precioooooussss tecnica Icon are on their last leg and I'll start looking for a replacement now.

I know, "go to a bootfitter yada yada" but I'd still be interested to know what the mags that were previously in these boots are using now.

    Thanks!

No idea about the actual lasts or anything, but I have kind of narrow feet and wore Tecnica Icons forever.

I just bought a pair of Full Tilts. I ponied up for an orange tongue to make them stiffer, but now I'm in boot heaven.

    Okay off for a skin-

    Tecnica Diablo...

I used to ski Icons. Cried when my old pair died.
Then realised the diablo is even better that the icon.

If anyone's interested I have a pair of icons for sale in good shape. They're mondo 27.5.

    Edit: These boots are gone.

Please PM me with details. Model, pics, condition. My father upgraded to some Diablos, and did like them at all! So Icons on the cheap (same last as TNT's) would really make his year.
    No longer stuck.

    I completely disagree.
I used to ski Icon Carbons. They broke and I changed to Diablo Magnesium. I found them to be almost inskiably soft with big skis. The Diablo skis like a dream with small pist skis, but if you are used to the older Icons (even more the Carbons) they totally bend if you load up the front of a big freeride ski. I gave them around 20 days to learn them and then found it to be rather ok... Until I found a brand new pair of Icon Carbons in a sleepy ski shop. Bought them cheap and tried them. Never had such a fun day in my skiing life. My god, what a difference. Speed, attack and power was back in my skiing. I had not even realised how much negative impact the Diablos had in the way I skied. Never ever going back to softer boots again.

Fit-wise, the best I found that feels the same as Icons is the Nordica Speedmachine 14.

This reminded me that I have a older pair of Icons just sitting in my garage that I have procrastinated posting up in gear swap. Only have 10-15 days on them but they just never fit me so I gave on them. I can't find the size on them anywhere but the boot sole is 296mm. I wear a nine to nine and a half street shoe but these are two small for me. The toe is punched out a bit. I will probably get around to posting on gear swap but if anyone here is interested, let me know.

Interesting, I never tried the Diablos and went straight into the Full Tilts. I just tried them on together: busted-up old Icon Carbons on my left foot, new Full Tilts with the orange "Pro Athlete" tongue on my right, and the Icon Carbons were still significantly stiffer, although the FT's are now plenty stout.

Anyway, no complaints here. Love the way they ski and fit, and putting on the FT's in a cold parking lot is like sliding into a slipper compared cramming into the old deathvice.

I still ski/own Icon Carbon's, Icon ALU's and Icon DPXR's...I'm also in a pair of Diablo Magma's and LOVE them. It's important to downisize in this boot compared to the Icon series.

I can't speak to the the regular Diablo series, as I've never skied them, but the general consensus is that they are too soft...Not so with the Magma...It's a much stiffer boot.

Another boot that closely resembles the Icon series in the highly underrated Dolomite Rage series (supposedly built on the same last as the Icon series, and to me they feel the same).

I've got a pair of the Rage X12's and it's a great boot that feels the same as the Icon series and can be found for very cheap...Also look for the Rage Pro's, or Rage X14's...Very stiff and cheap.

If you search diligently on Ebay, you can still find Icon's for good prices from time to time.

I'll echo previous posts to say that the Diablo Magma (120 flex) is way softer than the older ICONs. And they definitely run bigger. I bought a pair of Magmas this year after skiing TNTs and ICON Carbons for the past 15 years or so and they have been a disappointment for me, but probably a great boot if you like a softer flex.

So, I'm selling them if anybody wants em. 28.5 Mondo, skied 12 days, great shape, make offer.

I was in a Tecnica Icon, 304 mm.
Now I have got some Fischer RC4's (both 130 and 110).

I had the Alu Icon Comp's in a 26.0 (304mm, flex 130?) and loved them. I skied these for 4 years and never had to buckle more than the second setting. I finally packed out the ankle of the liner on the right foot to where it was too painful to use anymore(constant traversing to the left out a BC gate).

Bought a pair of 26.0 (304mm) Diablo Magmas (minty used ~3 days for someone in gear swap, very good price so I couldn't resist) and have been less than happy with them. I'll echo the sentiments of those above, soft (120 flex, didn't seem like it should be that soft) and definitely a larger fit than my old boots. I'd probably be happier in a 25-25.5 in this boot after being in the 26.0 through 4 different models of technicas in the past 15 years.

The diable pro 130 would have been a better option.

    tecnica

I had magmas in 27.5 last season. One thing negative I noticed:

Excessive forward lean was very fatigue inducing. This year I went to an Agent 120 ( Same shell as Pro) and it seems more upright and less tiring.

Another possibility is that its just my imagination.

Hum, you are the pro and I'm the jong, but aren't those the narrowest options available short of a plug?
I didn't think the Icon was that narrow...

Are those the duckfooted Fischer boots (Soma technology or whatever they're called) ? How do you like them?

Yes, that's them, somatec is duck-footed.
For my legs, bowed tib/fib, but not knockneed, they fit great.
I like them, because I feel very neutral (leg-position) when the ski is flat.
The 130's are quite stiff to me, but are the only RC4 with canting on the inside of the boot.
    I am 5'8", 160 lbs.
I didn't have much time to have the 130's softened up, so I also got the RC4 110's, which are a little more manageable flex-wise.
I had softened up the Icon's (flex at min setting, pulled out plastic stops in upper cuff, pulled out rubber stopper inside rear spoiler).

Try to look at Dalbello Proton P14 Carbon (with usual liner).
