Boston Knee Specialist
Anybody has any recommendations for a Boston area knee specialist?
I had a crash on my mountain bike in the fall and through an MRI I was diagnosed with a bone bruise. It does not seem to go away and I am concerned that ACL, etc. might be involved. I would like to get a second opinion.Last edited by smido; 01-16-2008 at 08:30 AM.

I'd recommend George Theodore at MA General Sports Medicine. I've seen him and liked him - down to business, but knows his shit. He's an ankle and knee guy, and did Curt Schilling's ankle (peroneal tendon surgery) after he damaged it in the World Series.

i had my ACL done by DR. Thomas Gill, best knee guy in boston. he's out of MGH. he does the patriots, bruins, and became the team doc for the sox in 05. he's amazing. seriously, if you can get him no one is better. A+

Both of these guys seem to work in the same office. I called them up and I was actually recommended Dr. Thomas Gill as he focuses more on kness. I have an appointment with his nurse next week. Thanks both of you!

Now's as good a time as any for a first post I guess.
I had my ACL reconstructed a few years back by Lyle Micheli out of Children's Hospital.

Very well respected, as it seems every doctor I've been to since recognizes his name. Also helped when my first doctor completely missed the diagnosis and I went back and aggravated it later. The guy predicted everything the MRI would eventually show in 30 seconds of wiggling my leg around (stomped the diagnosis too, including stretched PCL and meniscus tear)
Sounds like the other guys are also well regarded so I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with any of them, just wanted to throw the guy a reference for everything he helped me with (6+ years, no reinjuries, no pain, no noticeable weakness)
And now that I've popped my cherry, lets see what else I can add to this forum
