Photo TR: 1-12-08 I love Bert

Some photos were already posted in the Berthoud conditions/observations thread, but I think I've got enough here to warrant a separate thread. Well, really, I'm just an attention whore.

HikeforTurns getting things started in FP:

    spthomson (photos by HikeforTurns):

It was good. Very good. Sometimes it was even neck deep:

We then met up with FrontRangeDrummer and headed to HHA Trees. The weather seemed to only get better as the day went on; it was an awesome day all around (photo by HfT):

    HikeforTurns again:

    FrontRangeDrummer (photos by HfT):

    spthomson (photo by HfT):

Then, it was on to the west side for some rock hopping and more powder skiing:
FRD getting airborne a couple of times:

    ...a little 3 shot sequence...

View of the same drop from below (photo by HfT):

And then the gaper jumping (me), landing gear out early. Nor can I decide at this point if "it's good" or not. (photo by FRD)

And on to a few more jumps. FRD (photo by HfT):

    HfT (photo by FRD):

    HfT (photo by spthomson):

    Another multishot sequence of FRD:

And a few powder turns to wrap things up. FRD:

    Berthoud delivers again.
I can't believe you are a rando racer because I look so much better in Lycra than you.

SPthompson... you didn't put the rest of the sequence of your landing in, why not?

it took you guys long enough to sack up and hit that thing.... you even had a bunch of people in the parking lot watching you
smile when you are going down, it looks more graceful

Nothing too exciting to see, as I'm sure anyone could surmise from the photo shown. I don't think my faceplant was really captured. But, just for you, here's the before and after of my pencil dive form. Right at takeoff, it looks promising, but quickly falls apart.

I do some of my best work at 3am. This wouldn't be an example...but I've done other things really well at 3am.

I've often said "Berthoud's sick" and this photo proves me right.

We were... um... waiting for the photographer....

Seriously, that was just about the biggest drop that I have stuck cleanly. That day was a big confidence booster in that department.

SPT, feel free to post the sequences I emailed you.

Powder snow skiing is not fun. It’s life, fully lived, life lived in a blaze of reality. What we experience in powder is the original human self, which lies deeply inside each of us, still undamaged in spite of what our present culture tries to do to us. Once experienced, this kind of living is recognized as the only way to live–fully aware of the earth and the sky and the gods and you, the mortal, playing among them. Dolores LaChapelle
