Group set to ski all 28 California ski resorts in four days

(01-02) 15:50 PST Grass Valley, Calif. (AP) --
A team of skiers and snowboarders has set out to ski all of California's ski resorts in just four days.
Skiing all 28 resorts this week could set a new record. The group's eight members skied all of Colorado's 28 resorts in four days in 2002.
Pietro Simonetti of Boulder, Colorado, says the group, which calls itself Across the Atlas, started on a whim. He and a friend were comparing how many Colorado resorts they had skied, and decided to try them all.
The group is using the California trip to raise money to help two disabled athletes qualify for the 2010 Paralympic games in Vancouver, Canada. Athletes with disabilities are joining the team at several California resorts.

    lets see
    4 days
avg resort is open 7 hours a day
= 28hrs of ski time possible
minus drive time, say losing 1/3rd the possible time to ski is roughly 20hrs of ski time.

thats about 40minutes of ski time at each resort
id hardly call that "trying them all"
i hope they dont run into a long lift line

    also, for s&g's
    28 resorts * 70$ average ski ticket = ~$2000 in tickets
    + gas
    = retarded

Pretty sure the tickets are paid for by the sponsors.

I'm always curious how much of the money raised goes to charity and how much of it covers "expedition needs"

The dude who skied all the runaway truck ramps in Colorado - now that was a worthy if retarded goal.

    This one is just silly.

I worked with Pietro the winter he did all the Colorado resorts at the NSCD in Winter Park, he was a great guy and I thought what he was doing was great to raise funds for skiers with disabilities.

I got a better goal...Pee in one of the bathrooms in each of the 28 resorts. That way you get to drink a lot of beer, and beer company sponsorship could be huge.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

You can easily waste 40 minutes in line with the gheeto hood rats and 909'ers at Mountain High, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain.

And good luck getting in or out of the Big Bear region.....you thought Tahoe or Mammoth driving was bad, the SoCal gappers that drive to Bear and clog up and close the highways are a other type of kook.

13 down, 15 to go. Pretty much on schedule but we're expecting to get hammered by this storm. We've had great support from all the resorts. We have been comped for all but one, and they escort us to the front of lines. Tahoe was sick, nice to be able to catch some sick lines on our way through this.

All expenses not paid for by our sponsors comes out of our pockets. Good cause for sure. We got to ride with the recipients at Alpine and they are super stoked.
