I think we should all send Loveland an email (marketing@skiloveland.com) and post on their facebook stating such. Here is what I wrote:

    Dear Loveland,
I'd like to voice my disappointment about the terrain that is currently open. I realize that this has been a poor snow year, which clearly effects the terrain that can safely be opened, and I appreciate that the ski area is interested in a positive experience for all guests.

That being said, Loveland is reporting 128 inches on the year, which is 1/3 of its annual average; and more than anywhere in the state but Wolf Creek. Despite the low snow year, the other northern colorado ski areas have found ways of opening significant portions of their terrain.

I feel that there is terrain that can safely be open right now that is not; including the South Chutes. This belief is reaffirmed by the fact that I have witnessed ski patrollers lapping the South Chutes for the last two months. I know that these ski patrollers are not going back there for avalanche control or other work for two reasons: 1) They are often volunteer patrollers who do not participate in avalanche control. 2) Myself and other people have followed them multiple times and watched them simply ski the chutes top to bottom without stopping, going so fast they haven't even noticed us.

I am coming to the conclusion that Loveland Ski Area doesn't strive to open terrain as the snow conditions allow. Because of this my friends and I will not be renewing our Loveland passes next year.
You missed the n't shown in red above. Make the fix and send it, I'll write my own.

To the people lamenting the rocks, some of us have rock skis. Put a sign at the bottom of the lift, or top of the gate saying "rocks, damage WILL happen" and let us go. Change the slope designation from blue to black or black to XX because of UNseasonal conditions, etc.

If it's impending slide zone, different story. Spend my season pass money, and bomb the fuck out of it, and then let us go.

Didn't we all have this convo last year? What's going on over there?

I personally watched them cut Busy Gully from the lift, and yes, they hit some big ass rocks. So what. If they had a disclaimer up that damage would happen let us out there to pack it before it blows away again.

Someone posted on Facebook that Luv opened a "ton" of new terrain today. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Yeah, the clarification was hardly exciting and far from describing a "ton" of terrain.

Looked like south chutes were getting ready to open. Patrol was heading over with sticks and ropes. Poma was spinning, but not open on my last run.

I'll be up there first thing in the morning. If they'd just get south chutes open, that'd be enough to make me happy. Anything more would be awesome.

Their explanation is total damage-control PR bullshit. There's not a legitimate reason in their reply, and they do nothing to address the concerns from all their "fans".

Glad I didn't pony up for a pass there this year, but here's to hoping this next storm lets them open more terrain soon. Without Chairs 4,8 and 9 open (plus most of 1), that place is severely lacking in fun terrain.

Agreed. No reason at least south chutes and the trees between 2 and 9 weren,t open long ago. Yep, 8 and 9 are why I go to the Luv.

Beers will be coming for all of patrol having to endure the doubt. Those faithful, do not doubt.

Still low tide in places EVERYWHERE....be careful out there with sharks.

If terrain conditions change, I know Loveland makes the safe and conservative decisions.

    To quote Walter:
"The chinaman is not the issue here, Dude. I’m talking about drawing a line in the sand, Dude. Across this line, you DO NOT… Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature."

seems obvious who is on which side of said line:

LL should not open terrain so Patrol can lap it instead of working on opening more runs:

I had to leave around noon today, did they end up opening more terrain under chair 1? It looked like they were getting ready.
