I think Ullr BITCH SLAPPED me!
So I didn't ski at all this year (o.k. twice with the kid, but no serious turns). Passed on a lot of powder days at Jay, and trips to Crested Butte, Sunday River, and Eastern Washington. Then made the trip to Tuckerman last week. After one awesome run, I felt alive again. The 2nd trip down, my ski caught in some frozen slough, and my knee blew out. First serious ski injury in 28 years of skiing. My athletic plans for this spring are cancelled. They included: a marathon May 30, mt. biking, soccer, golf. Anyone care to wax philisophical on this turn of events. I could use some perspective.

I too sustained a knee injury this year. Not nearly as bad as a full blow-out, but I was pretty down about it, as I too had big summer athletic plans.
That is, until I had a little chat with a kid in a burrito place yesterday who overshot a transition at Stevens Pass by 25 ft. He hit flat, pitched forward, landed on his head, and snapped his neck. That was in December. He got to spend the rest of his winter in a halo with screws in his head. He still has a full bore neck brace on, and probably will for quite a while longer.

I just filed my AFLAC accident and disability claims - the agent said most accidents happen in the first and last months of the season. Probably not the perspective you're looking for.
Sorry about your knee.
Don’t race. Leave that to the scorchers.

Bummer. Bad year for knees all around.

Self employed and underinsured is a bad combination. I see the orthopedist wed. to have the damage surveyed. Thankfully there'll be no halos or neck braces in my future. I did just get a slick new hinged knee brace so i can gimp around a bit better
