Do K2 skis measure short? Help w/ski length.

I'm looking at K2 Mt. Bakers and trying to decide between the 167s and the 174s. I've noticed, though, that the K2 "167s" are exactly the same length as Karhu Jak 172s and also Atomic 172s (both the chord length and the running length excluding the tip and tail). The "174" K2s are the same length as a 179 Jak. I don't know why K2 is labelling the skis so short. Can anyone tell me if they ski "longer" than the label?

I'm 5'10 and 165 pounds, live and ski in Utah, and will use them for off-piste 90% of the time. I'm not an expert though (I would say upper-intermediate), and so I'm considering going shorter. Most would recommend I buy the "174" based on the above, but I'm wondering if the "167s" (which are really like 172) might be a little easier/more fun for me. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Yep, my 179 PE's are about 3 inches longer than my 179 Prophet 100's.

I am 5' 10" 175, and have 167 outlaws, and they are toooo short. Go longer.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Thanks for the helpful replies. I actually searched and read all the posts I could find on the Mt. Bakers and how they skied. If there was a prior thread on whether they skied longer than their stated length I guess I didn't find it.

    Yes, K2's do measure short.
